Have you done a rear wiper delete or was your car ordered like that? I ask as I thought all UK 996 Carreras had the rear wiper as standard, although I much prefer the look without.
I did the rear wiper delete. Bought the bung off a chap in Greece on eBay, he painted it for me so it was ready to fit. 15 minute job to fit, really pleased with it smile
I bought this kit a few months ago but there wasn't a guide with it. Do you have one by any chance or are you able to let me know the steps to install it? PM if you would prefer

I don't think there was a guide. It's quite simple though smile

Remove the rear wiper, fold yourself in half and climb in the back of the car. Pop the rear trim off from below the rear window, from memory it secures on 4 points, with the trim off you'll you the wiper motor. Undo the bolts that hold the wiper motor in place, and wiggle it out. Assemble the blanking plug, and place it through the hole form the outside of the car. Tighten up the bolt that holds it in place from inside the car, pop the trim back in place (may need a few hits with the palm of your hand for it to pop back in), unfold yourself from the car. Step back with a cup of tea and admire your handiwork and bask in the knowledge that your coolness factor has increased ten fold biggrin

That's pretty much a perfect description! smile

The trim below the rear window pops out at the bottom. Pull the bottom edge until the trim is more or less vertical, then lift it parallel to the rear window ie along the same plane as the glass. The clips lift out of their carriers easiest this way.

Sorry, I'm a Technical Author and I couldn't help myself... despite being on my lunch break!

(1) Remove the rear wiper.

(2) Fold yourself in half and climb in the back of the car.

(3) Pop the rear trim off from below the rear window. With the trim off you'll see the wiper motor.

(5) Assemble the blanking plug and place it through the hole from the outside of the car.

(6) Tighten up the bolt that holds it in place from inside the car.

(7) Pop the trim back in place (may need a few hits with the palm of your hand for it to pop back in).

(8) Unfold yourself from the car.

Thanks for the guide chaps!

That is brilliant, thanks. Will build up the courage to give it a go in the next couple of weeks

Yes, deal done! Deposit paid today, to enable the cherished transfer. Took a little while to get the service done, thankfully no other issues were highlighted. Still suffering Porsche paranoia, just need to drive and enjoy it! Managed to negotiate some money off for the bits that needed addressing. Hopefully collecting at some point next week. Pics to follow!

Cheers again.

Now this may sound odd to some but why would you want to remove the rear wiper? confused

Looks cleaner/tidier/nicer without (also saves approx 2kgs if you're bothered).

Still not convinced enough to delete mine though!

I prefer the look of it without the rear wiper. In the first year I had it I used the wiper once, so I know I can live without it.

Did a little photo shoot this morning as well smile

I've not used the rear wiper on my 996 because the car is 20 years old and you never know. I had one on my brand new 997 and used it a couple of times. Once you are moving i can't see why you would need it.

There's a well trodden path to taking weight out of the car, and this is one of the easier / cheaper bits to do.

With very little effort mine will be at c. 80kgs lighter than when I got it, and I really like how it now feels.

Fine, you can do all that and keep the wiper, but as others have said, it's not particularly essential.

I use mine a fair bit. Usually when reversing, or in slow traffic.

That's the great thing about the 996 it can be so many things, a stripped out track focused racer, a nice refind daily driver.
I like to keep mine as it came from showroom but that's me.

I need to try a vanilla car. Mine is far from it.
