Are these metropole - look cheap as chips if you ask me.

Just visually the base looks much more bucket like.

I don't know what other colour than metropol it would be (other than a special order from Porsche Exclusive, which is unlikely).
At that price it is an absolute steal!!! Get some colour lock dye and give them a thorough clean and refurb. The will look almost perfect after that!
(2h of your time an £50 for enough dye and conditioner for the whole interior)

Also they have the Porsche crest embossed on the them, nice touch and an extra at the time that cost the same or more than this lot today!

I have these exact base seats in my 997 and they really are lovely to sit in. Having rather wide shoulders, I prefer them to the sports seats.
And as ATM has said, they have a very nice "buckety" feel to them.

If I'd have a metropol blue 996 interior, I'd have bought them up immediately!
BTW, I'm a big fan of metropol interiors!! With the right exterior colour an absolute classy look and just somehow more clever than just black (says the one with an all black interior....)

@ porkey
shoutshoutshout GET THEM BOUGHT !!!!!
That's about the going rate. Then you need to buy a few leads and cables to make up the loom adaptors.
I found them marginally better than the 996 seat but not much and concluded the money would be better spent on aftermarket which weren't such a compromise. It is a bit odd that Porsche apparently struggle to make a decent basic seat.

I know it's controversial, but I'd like to stick with 996 seats
When I bought my previous 996 it had 997 seats fitted in it. One thing I found was that they are slightly taller so caught the roof lining when you tilt forward. In the end I bought a set of 996 sports seats and swapped back to original so they fitted correctly. As I recall the connectors were identical for mine.

My understanding is that metropole wasn't a 997 colour and it was a very similar one but different name for the 997.

Dec 1997 C2 LSD, MO30, manual, hollow spoke techno turbo alloys, Metropole blue interior leather.

All the major consumables replaced in the 5 years (15K miles) I've had it, with bills for the £10K I've spent mostly at D&G Motor Engineers, Newcastle.
105K miles 8 owners, no winter use, always garaged. Complete MO30 suspension refresh inc every arm with Geo at Centre gravity 800 miles ago and £20k worth of maintenance bills before I got the car in 2015.

What is a well maintained early 996 worth at the minute? Will be putting my For Sale ad together tonight but your input would be welcomed on the pricing?
Cheers, Steve

I think it's so you feel the need to tick the upgrade option. If it wasn't for safety regulations they'd probably supply a rough plank of wood as standard.

You are right, it's called "Seeblau", presumably "sea blue" in English.

From what I see in pictures, I wouldn't mind a set (!) of sea blue 997 seats in a metropol blue 996 interior.

Getting close to the holy grail there! Having said that us threadists might be foaming at the gusset for it but out in autotrader land it's a 100k 996.

I reckon 18k if you're not in a hurry to sell?

As I stated before, I'm perfectly happy with the base seats in mine (997).
I even prefer them to the sports seats, since they add no extra support in the base while being to narrow for me around the shoulders.
They are also comfortable enough for long distances, like 650 miles in one go, as I have done multiple times before.

Of course they are no Recaro PP, but for the kind of driving I am doing, they are absolutely perfect to me.

I'd say it is £17k minimum all day long.
Your PM box will melt with potential buyers with a £15k budget.

I'd be starting at 20 and see how you get on. Obviously yes it depends on your reasons behind selling as in time scales. If you are willing to wait then why not. If you advertise at 20 then you might get chancers asking if you will take 18 anyway. Where as if you advertise at 18 then the chancers might start at 16 and so on.

It's a lovely car, but 20 for something with 108k miles?

£20k is absolute top of the market for a car with prefect mechanicals (which this sounds like it has), bodywork AND low miles (c.50k or so).

Its not hard to firm up prices gents. It just takes a few like minded individuals to do it. So let's make a start right here right now.

Recall a discussion a few pages ago that £15k is around the entry price for 'good' car, but you may have to spend another £5k (not necessarily in one go) to get it 'really good' / perfect, so the total cost to get a mechanically mint one may be IRO £20k. A car that is already mint will be worth more IMO.

Not saying this car is, or is not mechanically perfect, just my 2p on the value / miles topic.

There's a chavved up 997 2S with 63 thousand miles on autotrader right now for 20k.

Obviously the cognoscenti on this thread know that it's no true 911 because it has a sunroof and and no cable throttle but I think it's fair to say that some less enlightened buyers might be tempted...

All depends how quickly you need to sell. There was a similarly well maintained example a few pages back with 30k fewer miles for £16k. It sold almost immediately. Personally, I’d consider £18k the limit for a 100k mileage well maintained 3.4. Anything priced higher would need to have some rare options. There are cars out there at £20k and above but in most cases those cars have been hanging around for a long time. The Mountsett car at £23k springs to mind. Even allowing for £3k’s worth of seats it seems wildly optimistic. As does the modified red C2 with brown wheels that appeared on eBay recently at £21k
