what is an 'early' 3.4 996?

I think this depends a lot on ride height and offset. My car is seriously low and therefore the 17 look a bit better than how they might look if ride height was much higher. Picture opportunity ......
Also I have seen some 996 wearing 19 where the rears poke out a bit and they look stupid if you ask me. I'm less concerned about the diameter than I am the poke.
Those 17s do look spot on on your car. I'd like to see a more 3/4 angle to see how tucked in they look. Also I have seen some 996 wearing 19 where the rears poke out a bit and they look stupid if you ask me. I'm less concerned about the diameter than I am the poke.
Depends massively on offset and ride height as you say. Anything that pokes out looks awful in my opinion but I find that even without poke most 19s just look far too big for a 996. But again, the style of the wheel can make or break it. An 17 with spokes that go right to the outer lip can look the same size as something like a twist with shorter spokes and a heavy lip.

My favourite wheel for the 996. These are 18s I believe, the reason for the question was whether to go for these in 17s on my car.
Yes these are 18", they're light wheels. I don't think there would be a huge weight difference between these and the 17" wheels, in all honesty unless you're Lewis Hamilton I doubt you'd notice the difference in unsprung weightFast Bug said:

Fronts tuck in really far. My Porsche indi told me they could not track my car as it was so low there was no adjustment left. I've bought some spacers but never got round to trying them. I'm -1.5 or -2 degrees camber.
Chasing interior rattles - Interior trim clips that hold the c-pillar trim on - does anyone know where I can get them from? Not the tree-shaped metal strip, but the washer/retaining plate that holds the clip to the trim piece (arrowed). I've looked everywhere and can't find anything. I don't even know if I'm calling it the right thing.
Any help appreciated from you, more bearded gents than I.

Was looking for this exact part last summer when chasing rattles and replacing trim clips. Took me a little while with the Porsche Katalogs to find the right bit.Any help appreciated from you, more bearded gents than I.
I had to order them through Teile in Germany during the 1st Lockdown as no one in the UK had any stock. They were about 80p each. Any Porsche Centre in the UK would likely be even cheaper if you can buy direct, or Design911 have them for about £1.10 with the VAT - https://www.design911.co.uk/parts/99950747901
Part number you want is 99950747901.
Comes as a single piece with the washer and clip.
