That looks outstanding - have you any more pictures? I certainly haven't seen another black / amber car!

Some 'interesting' comments in this thread.

Mine's here, https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Sport package - sport seats, LSD, M030 suspension
Traction control
18" alloy wheels
3 spoke steering wheel
Uprated Hi-fi sound system
Trip computer

I think people are being too fussy with the spec of these cars. The sound system for one is ancient! Suspension is likely past it's best whether standard or M030.

Thanks. Your car would be my perfect spec (sport pack with ambers) and looks fantastic. But as you say, you can't be too picky about spec when looking. Ultimately history and condition take precident.

Mine has a lot of options ticked at the factory - LSD, traction, heated power seats, cruise, sunroof, hi-fi, headlight washers, 18" Turbo wheels etc.

I'd love to show you more pictures of black with amber but unfortunately a previous owner has added later Litronics with clear indicators. My inner car geek is not coping with this, but I now have some amber headlights sitting in a box waitng to rectify this.

Anyhow, this is how she looks curently:

Chap on 911uk changed his lights to the Litronics then used amber motorsport film to re-amber the indicators, that might be worth a shot if the litronics are significantly better than the standard lights?

From Porsche I imagine that they are lots, second hand they seem (based on the two sets I found on eBay a while ago) to be circa £600/pair.

I find my headlights to be pretty good - but I only have a 21 year old Volvo to compare against.

Got a 996 (03) Guards red with replica GT3 tail, side fins, 3 piece wheels. Cost about £76 new. Now 60k on the clock.
Offers?

Some great replies/input guys - thanks...

I'll keep an eye out for an early guards red with genuine aerokit... I'm in no panic.... Although was tempted with a couple of other colours recently!

Yeah. 7.5 and 10J are plenty plenty big enough. Don't go for 11s unless you've grown a turbo or two and suffer traction issues for some bizarre reason. I've *never* found traction to be problematic on 225/265s. More than enough rubber on the road.

I think Pinky Lai would be proud of himself with a photo like that. Lovely car, lovely composition. In super hi res, that'd be a brochure shot..

[Postscript] If any fker says the 996 doesn't look good, they need hitting over the head with a blunt instrument. Just look at it! I find myself staring at mine in the carpark at home. It's sublime. And subtle. And that's what a 911 should be, subtle.

Ideally I want a set of 18" BBS LM, but they're more than I want to spend right now really as we're half thinking about moving. The rears look a little lost n the arches, and I want to make the car 'mine'. I thought about some spacers as a quick cheap fix?

Picked the car up, needs some coolant - Halfords says I need G40, Googling says I need G12 (Rennlist), who's right?

Well, fingers crossed that that's correct, anyway, as I put 1.5 litres into the car to get it past the minimum on the expansion bottle.

Quick photo before I put it in the garage:

That's a proper sh*tty garage, seems a shame to put that lovely car in it!

Did someone mention LM's ???

Great choice, cracking wheels. Stick with the 10's and 8.5's (or as others have said, go with spacers for time being)

This is standard 10" rears with 15mm spacers, arches rolled and 295's ......

Go ahead with Cmoose's advice and definitely, in my opinion, try NOT TO MIX the coolant. Were you picking your car up from the service and it was on low-coolant? they should have topped up there, already whatever the real coolant in the tank. A few technicians told me before (OPC as well), if your coolant is low and you are not sure about what's inside there, during non-winter conditions just top-up with water but not coolant and do not drive long-miles until you sort out the coolant mixture.
