Has anyone used a dehumidifier like this - do they work?

I have mine sorn’d in the winter months, although my car is garaged I do leave a dehumidifier on the dash (exact same one as shown above).https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pingi-Dehumidifer-Car-Hom...
If your car lives outside then I suspect you may have to ‘recharge’ (i.e. put it in the microwave) it more often, but I can leave mine in my car for 4/5 weeks before it changes colour.
Tips: put the dehumidifier in a plastic container (tupperware) rather than leave it on the leather dash; just to be safe in case of discolouring.

Why does it need to go high up on the dash - I was thinking on the carpet / mat?
It appears whoever had successfully won the car in the link below either found something untoward in 996 terms, or wasn't aware that buying a nearly 17 yr old car means you find bodywork imperfections!

I think the car made about £12.7k (ish) last time if anyone fancies an Aerokit C4 manual?

I was actually walking through that dealership today. Didn't see this anywhere however. The showroom might be overstocked but the front yard is pretty empty.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-Porsche-996-Carrer...

I see Friends Green still have the yellow aero kitted car in stock
I've been struggling to persuade my mate he needs to buy it. I think he only wants to spend 15 and deep deep down he is not man enough for the yellow.Smollet said:

For me Aero kit needs garish colour. None aero needs civilised. I didnt go looking for silver, I just ended up with it. I quite like civilised now. If I could swap to the yellow one .. its tricky. Come on hands up if you could magic your 996 to yellow and Aero who would be in the yes please camp or err no chance me mucker camp?
Couldn’t magic my new one. Although buying a munter as a project and Robert is you dad’s brother and I could do uber garish with aero. Having the two as a comparison has a lot of appeal. One of the things I like about my 996 is how relatively discrete it is in arctic with no aero kit.
I don't mind some 'colours', but I'm not a fan of aero cars with the rear wing, and I wouldn't touch a yellow aero car with a barge pole... far too much 'look at me'... I bought my 996 to drive, not to get looked at.

Fair enough - but a 996 of any flavour is pretty subtle compared to many modern supercars, even hot hatches (Ford Focus RS/Civic Type R). I think most normal people (my wife for instance) would say if you don't want to get looked at, then don't buy a Porsche full stop!I don't mind some 'colours', but I'm not a fan of aero cars with the rear wing, and I wouldn't touch a yellow aero car with a barge pole... far too much 'look at me'... Does anybody have any insurance recommendations. Fed up with the silly price my current insurer offers me at renewal time and the ensuing haggle. No problematic driving history, the odd expired sp30, car garaged, not tracked, does go the Europe, lots of NCB - although only 2 years on the 996, have been insuring for 5k miles a year, but not managing more than 4 - hope to do better ! `agreed value` has been £15k.
A £460 renewal offer - which is a 30% increase seems uninviting. I wont name names as the company is a piston-heads sponsor !
Any ideas ?
many thanks.
