98, C2, man, 135k, £9995.

Current owner for ten years and just spent £3.5k on it but it's a casualty of divorce.

He didn't get much for his 3500 did he?
I don't know, haven't spoken to him.

Appreciate the link.

I just wanted to add that 80's whale tailed 911's were Turbo's not Carrera's. The wing that's your thing on a 996 Carrera is an aero wing.

I love the aero kit - but only on a GT3.
I prefer a Carrera to look like a Carrera, it is its own look in the line-up.
The 911 SC and 3.2 Carrera were available with an optional factory fit "Sport package" kit which comprised the whaletail, a front lip, lower stiffer suspension and wider, larger diameter wheels. A beard will be along soon to give you the finer details (as they probably ordered a car in this very spec back in the 70's/80's ...)

Edit to add preliminary beardage here : https://www.impactbumpers.com/forum/index.php?/top...

Plus, Turbos had a Tea Tray not a Whale Tale (note for maximum beardage-I said Turbo and not Turbo Carrera or 3.0 930 wink )

Now, where's me socks and sandals...

Supersports or Turbo look had the wide arch body and could be ordered without the rear spoiler smile

Flippin heck Roca, I have been looking at this thing all day at work and have got chuff all done. With a bit of budget creep (£5000) It could be mine. I can make up the difference as I have just sold my TR3 but not sure I can persuade myself to go all in on such a nice car as my first step into 996 ownership banghead

You could look at it as asset transfer, how much did the classic cars you sold actually owe you? That will be the actual cost of the 996. Man math at it's best wink
If he didn't get 23k when the market was buoyant he might need to adjust the price, unless he doesn't really need to sell it in which case you need to dig deep!

Depends how many of the manifold studs broken and the labour to remove broken studs. That could be a big chunk of the bill

Me too but without knowing the full extent of the work done I can't say whether it was value or not. e.g.:

I suppose if a blind person had tried to drill the manifold studs out without using a jig he could have mullered the heads.

Maybe thats why it was £3500.

But $350 for the stomski jig and say worst case 2 days labour drilling them all out doesn't add up to £3500.

What price are genuine new manifolds and cats from OPC...?

Surely no one would be buying new manifolds but cats maybe I can see someone crazy doing that but i wouldn't personally.

The thing is divorce or not why sell cheap. Ok she will probably get half of the money but still you really need to be crazy angry with your x if you're willing to give away a car cheap to minimise her share. I'd be trying to sell for cash and pocketing it so there is no audit trail.

Nearly 20 hours labour to change my manifolds and back boxes. All bar 1 stud snapped.

Full bill was close to £3k... inc. parts.

Anyone considering a 996 that hadn’t had the headers done needs their head examining. After an engine or gearbox rebuild, has the potential to throw up a massive bill.

Yeah I've been told it can be steep. Mine are looming at some point in the next few years

Had to have mine done as it kept failing emissions at its MOT.
