The super cheap Facebook C2 is being advertised for £12.9k by invictus motors. Original fb post had 123k miles and now showing 112k might be typo but worth double checking if you are considering it.
Can someone invite me to this group please - everyone keeps suggesting to join but I can’t seem to find a way as it’s private.

I have an exceptionally well maintained low miles 3.4 C2 that I shall be selling. Zenith blue 56k miles. All the usual 996 age related jobs done.
Virtually mint condition.

Does a LSD, the MO30 suspension and Hollow Spoke Twists make any difference, or are these just nice to have's?
As Nunpuncher says, an LSD will be well past its best now, and it's not something a road going 996 really needs IMO - they don't really have the power to break traction unless you're driving in a way that's not safe on public roads.

M030 is desirable, but only if it's in good condition. A car with new, stock suspension parts for example, will drive much better than a car with old, worn M030.

Hollow spoke are desirable... because they fetch good money 2nd hand. They don't offer anything significant to the driving experience.

If you're buying a 996 there are so many other things that are more important than LSD/M030/cable throttle/no sunroof etc etc etc. Buying a car based on those factors, and not on the quality of the maintenance could end up being financial suicide... I'd be looking for evidence of replacement of a whole heap of things on a 20 year old/100k mile car before I'd be looking for those.

They do seem to get quoted as 'has desirable LSD/M030/non sunroof' etc in adverts though... often on the 1st or 2nd line.
I've got an open diff and maybe it's the ex-M3 hooligan in me but I really miss an LSD in my boggo 3.4. Especially in the wet when pulling out of junctions and going over drain covers it's easy to feel the unloaded wheel spin up.

Mine needs a gearbox rebuild anyway due to a knackered pinion bearing so with some man maths to the rescue I've bought a second hand box with LSD that I will be getting fixed and fitting that instead!

I've just bought some M030 springs and am waiting for matching Bilstein dampers so maybe I've just drunk the Kool-aid!

What will you do with the old box?

Pop it on ebay or 911uk as spares or repairs! Do you want it? Gear selection etc is fine just a whining pinion bearing. It's on 60k miles.

Just search in groups for "The Porsche 996 Carrera Owners" on facebook then click "join group" and answer the questions. Can't remember what the questions are or whether you need photos of your car but it's not as exclusive as it sounds. However, it is probably one of the most strictly moderated groups I've ever been in.

I think you need a picture of your car somewhere.
Seems a bit extreme but then, any post containing non 996-specific content gets deleted.

I joined at least a year prior to getting my 996, didn't get asked for a photo, just the questions from memory.

Honestly I can’t find it, any links people have given me don’t seem to work either so I think it’s private now.

oof. The perfect 996?

Early 3.4 tick
manual tick
coupe tick
no sunroof (potential tick)
Fab colour tick
sports seats tick
aerokit (tick)
sport classic II wheels tick
a few miles on it so you won't be scared to drive it tick
Is there still a premium being paid for early 996s if they do tick all of the above then?
I'd like to say yes but the reality is they are very rare anyway and therefore dont come up for sale too often. Especially if you want a really early so 97 or 98.
The jade green car has been for sale for a while. I just had another look at the ad

Early 3.4 tick
manual tick
coupe tick
no sunroof tick
Fab colour - you decide
sports seats - no
aerokit - no
sport classic II wheels - no
a few miles on it so you won't be scared to drive it tick

Adding to your list

No rear wiper - tick

I think its low mileage at 76000 but I wouldn't be scared to drive it

I'm curious what it will sell for. Why did you decide to buy another box instead of fixing the one you have?

This could be a good car but we're still below reserve so no idea what the seller expects to make. I think they're facelift boxster wheels because the real 996 turbos shouldn't fit.

Couple of reasons - mainly so I can do the job (box out/check IMS/change brake pipe/fit clutch/box in) over a weekend. This allows me to keep the car off the road for the minimum of time as it's my only car. I cycle to work so it's not critical but I live in a flat so having a car on axle stands sans gearbox on the street is not the one (I actually have use of a warehouse at work to do the job but again leaving a car without a g/box there long term is not an option)!

Second reason is that I got a good deal on a box with an LSD which worked out cheaper than buying a new Quaife and fitting it to my box! Plus I reckon having an OE solution hopefully will put off less people when it comes to resale.

Boxes seem to be going for around 1.2k+ on Ebay but I don't know if they're actually selling and presumably these are in good condition (although with the caveats you get from most breakers I'd want to rebuild these before I fitted them to my car!). I'd hope to get 600 or so for my old box.

I couldn't find one when I needed one and ended up getting one shipped from a German ebayer. I paid £2500 so £1200 sounds dirt cheap.

Hmm thanks for the info. There does seem to be a curious absence of 3.4 boxes available, maybe it's worth more than I thought even with a noisy pinion bearing.

They're 18" Turbo look wheels, you could get them in 10" rears for narrow body cars. Wide body cars ran 11" rears. Fronts were the same width for both bodies from memory
