What group was that? What was he asking? I'm in no position to buy but interesting to see what could be....

If I remember correctly it was the 996 Carrera owners group. It was going for £23k. Higher mileage but looked clean as a whistle with a huge list of essential jobs that had been done including all the coolant lines.

It'll be long gone now. Either sold or traded.

Let to the party but good purchases M5 London, love the colours on the Turbo.

I have just been away in the lakes in my 996 this week, was superb for the 650-700 miles it did...even took it over Hardknott pass in the rain which made me partner twitch.

Down on the road that runs along Ullswater, some lovely roads down there actually.

Thanks, I am very happy with them...they really compliment the Zenith Blue imo.

Good luck with the hunt for your new car.

I'll hopefully share an update on my car at some stage today.

Until then, I just posted this on a 996 FB group, figured some people here might find it helpful.

Without wanting to start a debate on Bosch vs Porsche MAF's. If anyone is in need of one, they can be had on eBay for ~£100 up until the 29th.

Item number: 233699492645

Using the code: POPUPOCT20

Would be good if people could share other deals they've spotted.

Wife just called to say mine sailed through its MOT this morning... no issues with Cup wheel and lack of working airbags.

I think as long as the air bag light isn't on you're golden. Ours are too old to need an airbag legally from memory.

Thats what I thought.

They didn’t mention the front plate... my Indy obviously has a decent relationship with the test centre.

Update on my 996 ownership. So far so good really, chipping away at bits and bobs.

Here's what's been done so far:

  • RS Engine Mounts (semi solid) - great VFM, little NVH increase but nothing worth worrying about.
  • New Clutch / RMS / IMS (Porschacare), IMS wasn't planned but with slight play / low mileage it didn't make sense to ignore.
  • Coolant changed
  • Thermostat
  • Water pump
  • Drive Belt
  • Idler Pulleys
  • Continental Radio
  • Centre Console Delete
  • Cruise Control Retrofit
  • OBC Retrofit
  • Alex Yates Short Shifter (lovely piece of kit)
  • Greased gearbox end of linkage (REALLY worth doing if you haven't done it)
  • Gearbox oil replaced with Millers Nanodrive
What's coming up:
  • Powerflex Gearbox Mount Insert
  • Spark Plugs / inspect coils
  • Coffin arms / suspension inspect / replace

Nice lot of work done on that, do you have much else planned?

Regarding the centre console delete, Where did you get yours from? I have a grey interior and it appears it only comes in black from what I can see?

Think they're nla in grey sadly. I think that a homebrew solution is doable, or wait for something to pop up second hand.

I put a black one in a grey interior and it looked fine.

I’ve seen a few people say not to do both engine and gearbox mount upgrades... just do one or the other.

@baked_bean - I know a guy whom might have 2 of the 3 required pieces (one of the side sections is the wrong colour, seller has carpet so...), if you drop me a PM I'll let you know, someone else showed some interest last week but not sure if they took it. I picked up mine used off the same guy - having had one on order from Porsche and then got cancelled, as the other poster mentioned... NLA.

Not much more planned really other than suspension bits, pile on some miles and see where we get to. Probably will start to clean/tidy things underneath.

On gearbox + engine mount, I've read all sorts - it's not a big job and so I figure I can easily reverse it if it's not to my tastes.

Anyone on here based near Chelmsford/in Essex - when the rules eventually relax again it would be good to catch up.
