Tobie, I have a grey one coming from Mark that he had just picked up, so the one with parts missing might still be available. Thanks for the heads up.

The black one I bought originally I have removed the black carpet from, and subsequently found the carpet I was planning to use is too thick to wrap round the edges. So if anyone wants the 3 plastic pieces to cover themselves drop me a message.

@baked_bean - I know a guy whom might have 2 of the 3 required pieces (one of the side sections is the wrong colour, seller has carpet so...), if you drop me a PM I'll let you know, someone else showed some interest last week but not sure if they took it. I picked up mine used off the same guy - having had one on order from Porsche and then got cancelled, as the other poster mentioned... NLA.

Anyone on here based near Chelmsford/in Essex - when the rules eventually relax again it would be good to catch up.
Hi Tobie,

Tried to PM But it won’t let me, I am interested so if you could drop me a PM it would be appreciated.

I am in northants but would be up for a ‘thread meet’.

Update on my 996 ownership. So far so good really, chipping away at bits and bobs.

  • New Clutch / RMS / IMS (Porschacare), IMS wasn't planned but with slight play / low mileage it didn't make sense to ignore.
I had a small oil change, check over and MOT on my 996 at Porshacare recently. Meant to post on here that I'd been really impressed with them. They juggled some things around to fit me in at short notice and were just nice and pleasant to deal with. Will be going back.

Agree here too. Matt has looked after mine for years.

He’s a good guy. First came across him a decade or so ago at Portiacraft. Knows these cars well.

+ C2, LSD, recent clutch, RMS, brake lines, discs and pads, radiator, AOS, Oettle exhaust, Michelin PS tyres. On Hartec service plan with other maintenance by Northway.

- Worn grey interior. Nearly 160k miles - might be difficult to move on again?

Thoughts?

Anything moves at a price but that will need an engine in the near future is my feeling...feels like catching a falling knife but nothing at this price will give you such a fabulous driving experience

That's roughly what I paid for mine a few years ago with 130k or so on the clock. Its not cost me a huge amount, and this year I had the interior refurbish for not much money. If I was to mine up for sale now with 143k on the clock, I'd probably be asking a couple of grand more than that one is up for in all honesty

If it's been on hartech plan, what's the worry & defo what's the worry at £10k? Mine is on 123k miles and I don't think I'd let it go for less than £16k but mine did have Hartech rebuild at 117k, 3 years ago (yes I know I need to drive it more)

I'd get some grey or metropole blue 997 seats and a gear lever. (I linked to some metropole blue 997 base seats in great shape on ebay a while ago that went for something crazy low in the region of £300 shipped!)

Remove rear seats and get some dark blue carpets.

The rest sounds very good to me at that price point!

Agreed regarding metropole blue, mine has it with Ocean Blue. However, not sure just changing the seats would look that good with the door cards and dash etc still in grey. Does sound a nice, well looked after example albeit with big miles (not a problem if things kept on top of). Think I'd stick with the original interior, although it wouldn't be my first choice I'd probably live with it if the rest of the car was right.

I broke up the grey in mine with black floor mats and a Momo steering wheel. I think a colour codes centre console would help as well, they pop up on ebay sometimes and are a fairly easy fit

I've got black floormats too as does the one above - I assume they are standard fit? Mine are Porsche for what it's worth, and it does break up the sea of 'OAP footwear grey'

It's particularly annoying having a grey interior as I'd love to put some bucket seats in but obviously these are all black as standard which means you'd need to retrim if you want them to match - as I would.

Car looks good but 160k means that even if the engine doesn't let go - which is may not - shifting it on down the line is going to get harder and harder.

Having said that if it was to get Hartech'd and the chassis is OK what would it be worth then? Hmmmm....

I had the full “grey” albeit with carbon bits interior on my 996. I did amongst other things a retrim of the wheel in black alcantara and the latest tinkerage is the removable bits of the centre console have been retrimmed in alcantara including the lid for the centre armrest etc.

The photo of the blue car also has the “worn knob” look which would trigger some serious twitching if it were my car and it’d be retrimmed as well!

I would love to do the seatbacks and centre console in body colour at some point, I believe both were options so that makes it OK to indulge my enthusiasm for colour matched interior bits. Existing centre console is silver which is a bit boring alongside the grey.

Yes, the colour coded seat backs & transmission tunnel seem a rare option, a bit like the different coloured seat belts - the colour coded bits seem more common on the 4S & GT3 models IMO.

It’s a lovely looking car but 13 years between services!

That’s been parked up for some time surely.

(I think) the story goes that it was parked up but used and serviced very infrequently, just the services were not put in the book as the family owned a Toyota franchise.

I know the car and it is stunning.
