yup arctic silver

I love the nephrite but you can have too much of a good thing. Changing the wheel and the gear gaiter for black has broken it up a bit.

I feel the same about the boxster red to be honest. Less is more. wink

I plan on doing the gear lever gaiter, knob and alloy pedal set eventually. I'm trying to resist the urge of fitting a rear cage though.

Interesting that the car came from friends green a couple of years ago. Its a shame they don't have it back. I see they're making vids now about the gen 2 997. Maybe they really have given up on the 996.

There was a pic he posted somewhere (YouTube, Instagram maybe) showing him collecting a 996.2. I presume to buy and not a collection for service.

Has anyone on here owned a 964 in the past?

I'd really like to know how the steering feel compares?

My assumption is that the steering wheel is heaver, and probably busier than the 996, and probably is more feelsome overall.

Whereas the the 996 is much lighter and much more subtle in the signals it gives you.

Those that know, is that about right?

I've only ever driven one 996 and one 997. What I do know is steering feel is very much a part or a product of the car's setup.

Some people prefer the 996 C4 to the C2 because it has a different feel
Some people prefer 18 wheels on the 996 but these will have a different feel to 17
Some people prefer 16 wheels on the 964 and these will feel very different to 17 or 18
Some people talk about toe and camber setting changing steering feel

Over the years with my 996 I have experienced

1. When I bought my 996 it had 18 and the Geo was a bit wayward. I drove it round like this for a few months.

2. I had the Geo sorted and then it felt super planted.

3. I then switched to 17 without spacers and the steering was more delicate and feelsome.

4. I then added 15mm spacers to the 17 and this made the steering more weighty and slightly less feelsome.

Now I have bought a 986 Boxster which wears 18 wheels. This is basically the same steering setup but feels very different. I am hoping this is just the 9 year old tyres but we will see once I get them changed.

There is a slightly unloved looking 40 jahre living down the road from me. I'm going to keep a close eye on this to see what it goes for. Tempted to pop a note on the windscreen seeing if the chap is tempted to sell. I would love an x51 motor....

Customer of mine has a 40 Jahre that he has owned from new. Unfortunately due to health issues he doesn’t get many opportunities to use it. Any time I visit his house he catches me drooling over it and takes the piss while insisting it’s not for sale. Last time I checked it had just ticked over 10k

If anyone wants a staggered set of OE alloys with Michelins drop me a line. I've put them on eBay but would rather they went to one of you guys here.

Can send on a pallet if required.

How easy is it to upgrade a regular 3.6 to X51 power?

So I've joined the early 996 club, a 1998 manual including the 014 option, silver/black with an odd part aero kit specified. I'm not a fan of the rear skirts so I'm hoping I can remove these without too much fuss but I fear they have been fitted using epoxy. other things planned are centre console delete, 964 rs engine mounts and orange light swap. Its booked into nine excellence next week for a look over so maybe a few more jobs to add once they've had a look.
So I will get round to a thread on this at some point but a lot has happened since buying this, it now looks like this.

Removed the aero kit.
Carbon Fibre VTD duck tail
Ambers all round
Full re spray
Centre Console Delete
Re trimmed front seat inserts and rears using OEM 911R fabric.

Thanks I'm really happy with how they turned out.

I'll get the other wing back from the body shop and I'll let you know what condition its in if you want?

More pics of this please.

Still not sure if I like or no like these in general. On the fence.

Do the big open gaps allow rain and what not onto the engine?

Those seats look great.

Bought some bedtime reading from Amazon.

I’m planning on going with duck tail so there’s another rear aero here should anyone be interested in it?

GT3 lids are fairly open, too.
