what is an 'early' 3.4 996?

Completely bog standard ones always look bland as the ride height is pretty high and the wheels are really tucked. The 993 suffers the same issue along with the 997 to some extent. Drop them and sort the wheels and they suddenly start to look a bit more purposeful but without all the overly aggressive styling of some of the newer cars.
Enquired about this one. Seems half decent. Nothing a set of spring and spacers/geo wouldn't sort out. Actually like the wheels funnily enough. Weird how your tastes change.Swine Enthusiast said:

One of the things I like about 996 is that even just a couple of subtle mods can allow you to put your own stamp on them. Mine was pretty bland I guess but a change of wheel and mirror colour had quite an impact visually. Obviously this is all subjective but it’s the basic shape that’s so nice. The only other visual changes I’d make are yellow brake callipers and a slightly lower ride height. I’d like a ducktail but I simply can’t afford one.
Only thing I didn’t like about 996 was that you couldn’t backdate them as you could with 964 and previous generation. Thankfully I see them differently nowadays and they’ve become more ‘classic’ (for want of a better phrase) in their own right.
What have you done with your wing mirror covers Mark, it’s difficult to tell on my phone?Only thing I didn’t like about 996 was that you couldn’t backdate them as you could with 964 and previous generation. I was thinking of hydro dipping mine in carbon.

Less is more. Remove a few bits (rear badge and wiper), lower and a nice set of wheels and jobs a good 'un!
I don’t understand why you’d want to remove something that aids rearward vision. I don't ever use mine despite living in the we(s)t of Scotland. I've used Rain X for glass before but last year a friend who's in to all that detailing nonsense asked why I did just wax the rear screen. I thought he was taking the pee. Turns out if you apply regular wax and let it dry fully before buffing off the water just runs right off the glass.

I've never used my RWW. I don't even know how to turn it on: I did check the price of a rear screen without the hole though and it's £762.22!
I thought the wiper was on the panel below the screen on all 996s?ATM said:

Maybe its a gen 2 thing. Dont forget he doesn't have an early car. He is an imposter!
It's not - gen 2 exactly the same as gen 1 in this regard ... it's on the rear panel - the windows are identical with or without wiperI'm confused now

What do we think to this?
Ignoring the Tip problem it's an interesting car as a possible parts donor or for conversion to manual. I'm even beginning to like the look of aero without side skirts.

Nice apart from the box. I know this is a controversial opinion but I think those seats are plain ugly.
Unfortunately my own 996 is currently listed but I'm still clinging to the hope that I might be able to hang on to it.
