Been watching this surprised it didn't sell on the first day. Arena really suits it and isn't that common

I think poor pictures don’t help as it doesn’t give any real impression of the condition of the bodywork & interior (& photos of it when it’s just been washed won’t help IMO). It also has a very short MOT.

Here's my effort.

Bought for 15k, already spent over 10k bringing it up to spec & it's still got red interior so, If I had my time again I would spend a lot of time trying to find the perfect car, if that even exists.

I can't really remember what I've done now but something like:

Refreshed all the interior, added black mats etc to dull the red down a little. Console delete plus alcantara bits.
Replaced all suspension inc. lowering springs components in full, all bushes & ARB's replaced, all coffin arms etc.
Major service, new rads/condensors
New exhaust
Re-furbished wheel with new PS4's fitted
Re-furbished calipers
15mm R / 7mm F Spacers
Short shift
OEM Centre console hinge repair
OEM Ashtray delete
OEM Lighter blank
Semi solid engine mounts

It had the usual rot starting underneath but all sorted now.

Nice, good effort. Looks tidy as well. Which brand of spacers did you go with?

I got them from design 911, perhaps their own brand inc. the extended bolts, all hubcentric etc, black anodised.

My dream spec. Red interior ftw too

Absolutely love it. The 996.1 shape is an absolute classic.

Yes. His Alfa was sold also. Another amazing project.
I read the last few pages .

Clearly a true petrolhead and gentleman.

I sincerely hope he’s enjoying his life by the sea with that amazing view .
Rest assured, he’s not a gentleman, he’s a complete tw4t, as he keeps sending me images of those “amazing views” ...

But all joking aside, he’s an absolutely smashing fellow, and all being well, I hope to visit him in Spain in the next couple of months smile

Some bearding is needed please chaps.

Drivers side heated seat doesn't work. Ive lifted the seat and have the big multiplug, and also 2 x two-pin plugs, I assume one for the seat base and one for the seat back? The one closest to the drivers door does not have continuity, but the one in the centre(ish) is fine. I am assuming the outermost one, nearest the door, is the seat base? Am I correct?

Thanks Rich. So that's saying that the power feed for the backrest is 2 x red/white wires, and the seat base is 1x red/white and 1x brown?

I'd say you got a bargain there, the BBi base kits are over £400 a pop ...

Yup

The Recaro or OEM Porsche - no idea what they are - mounts I have now dont offer any tilt adjustment. These clearly do. So that's why I wanted them. I'll try the seats too and see which I prefer.

Love those seats - had Taiwanese kevlar copies in my DC2, I've never sat more comfortably ... I'd love a set in my turbo, but the kids still need to go in the back!

I have one XL and one standard. I asked the seller about his waist size assuming maybe he didn't fit in the standard but he claims his 36 inch waste fit in the standard just fine.

I also have some serious Corbeau Kevlar buckets too - or are they Cobra, cant remember. Which have massive bolsters and are probably impossible to get in and out of once they are actually in a car, with doors. I'm tempted to try them too. Not just because the Kevlar looks amazing, obviously.

Nice buy ATM.

Slightly on-topic... are the 996 GT3 style/replica seats still available new or NOS anywhere?

I have the same problem with the drivers seat. The link below gives you some pointers to logically test.

My money will be a short in the seating element. Get the multimeter out and check for continuity but unplugging the connector for the base and back element.
