I think he has. But maybe it has something written on it in Red like Porsche maybe?Slippydiff said:

He did, and it does The proper way would be to replace the whole panel. Can't find any info for the 996 on the quick, but this part does exist from Porsche for the 997:
Surely this exist for the 996 as well, since the Turbo had a fixed 3rd brake light in the wing too.
I do realize I'm pretty anal about these kind of things ....
ETA a 996 Turbo image. Now the question is, wether the Turbo was available without rear wiper
Or maybe the 997 part fits?

I see it more clearly now on a desktop computer. It is only a small blanking panel for the cutout of the brake light.

It was, it's called a GT2 : The proper way would be to replace the whole panel. Can't find any info for the 996 on the quick, but this part does exist from Porsche for the 997:

997 panel is bolt on IIRC (it's a Sport Classic & Turbo/GT2/GT3 part).
The replacement of the 996 version is somewhat more invasive ...
Edit to add, here's the 996 3rd brake light delete cover, cheap it is not ... :

I’ve seen another early 996 regularly over the last couple of weeks, so assume it’s new to the area in Hildenborough. It’s black with aero kit and a fairly throaty exhaust so possibly gundo hacked. It burbling past a few times each day has brightened a couple of days I’ve worked from home in the last fortnight

Sounds identical to my car, though I’ve lived at top of Riverhill for last 12 years with it, and not regularly in Hildenborough so maybe another? I’ve literally just sold my car this week (after 16 years ownership, quite the wrench!) so would be nice to another around. chris_w said:

It’s gone past and back again shortly after twice today, and did the same one day last week when I worked from home. Registration is P6xxx (can remember the letters). Have you replaced your 996 with anything similar?

I’ve gone full mid-life crisis and got a Ferrari California. It’s a lovely thing but already missing the compact proportions of the 996, and the manual gearbox. I will be back at some point

I’ll keep an eye out, actually just saw a very original ocean blue 996 on Morley’s roundabout. Realised at the last moment I couldn’t give the driver a wave as no longer in mine….

I’d be really interested in hearing your experience of the California, for me it’s a once in a life time car, a newer 911 is for when your older I’ve gone full mid-life crisis and got a Ferrari California. At that’s price just paint bloody brake light and unplug it!!!
Then you need a new one to install in the ducktail spoiler The important thing about these changes is that they achieve what you want but can be easily reversed back to original.

iirc I paid £58.00 at the time from OPC for the blanking plate.

I didn’t realize changing the whole panel is more difficult (and more expensive) on a 996 than on a 997.The important thing about these changes is that they achieve what you want but can be easily reversed back to original.
Your ducktailed GT3 RS looks stunning! I’m a big fan of the look myself
