Seem to have sold !

Looks really to be a nice example.

But I don't think it needs spacers. I have spacers on my own car (997 with 19" sports design wheels), but I think with those very humble (yet good looking!) it suits the somewhat 90's factory look.
It wasn't sold at 6am-ish when I looked. Probably friends green or someone similar.

Chris has a thing for spacers. Pics like this will upset him.

I know mine is a cab, but - when I bought it the car was on 60,000 miles, had hard backed sports seats, manual with functioning factory LSD, three spoke steering wheel, the same Targa ten spokes as the car in that add, it's original amber lights, brand new PS4's, and was £9,500.

Any car on over 100,000 miles is going to be in a similar position to an owner of a V8 M3 or V10 M5 - significantly benefiting from having the bearing shells changed, but with an M96 that requires the block to be split rather than removing the sump which is a fairly big job.

The price that car went for doesn't compute for me.

This is the reason you need to join the 996 Facebook group
Thanks for the suggestion. I am now "in" but, having had to upload a public photo of a 996, my friends also think I am now the owner of a 996 40th Anniversary Edition.....!

£14k with 130k miles. I don’t think it was a bargain.
I agree. Over on the Facebook page there's some doom mongering about desperate sellers dropping their prices and yet this went for what I'd consider strong money, especially as there were no interior photos or really any breakdown of the servicing work. It was clearly owned by an enthusiast though with reference to the upgrades, low temp thermostat and so on, so will hopefully be a good car for somebody.

laugh

Not so much spacers... not needed if the wheels have the right off set.

Those make it look like the front and rear tracks are 6” too narrow for the car.

Would be good to know what it actually sold for.
If it did sell for for near asking price then I imagine that there is a certain amount of future forecasting for where prices of the right spec 996s are heading.
This car was the most desirable non Turbo/GT version of the 996 range...even more so than the C4S.
From the advert, the vendor knew exactly what he had...

Shame there are no interior shots though...
I still don't know the difference between the ruched leather seats vs. the "straight" ones, or rather what triggered them.

Has it to do with the MY? (but there are 997 ones that have ruched seats)
Sports seats?
Extended Leather?

Also is it only the seats, or are other parts ruched as well? Door cards maybe?

Think comfy 80's jag. Or a soft plush 80's leather sofa.
It was an option, rather than fitted to certain model years

Even when new it looked baggy and ste, I always tried to talk customers out of it when they were doing specs for a new car laugh

I know I am in a vast minority, but I always liked the look of those and, could I have optioned a new 996/86 would likely have opted for them. On the 997 instead they didn't work as well (but you could get that great two-tone interior, which I have).

How can you tell if a 911 is a UK car? There was mention a few pages back of some 996s from Cyprus? Would it be on the v5?

On the build sheet sticker (in service book or under the bonnet) you need to find the code "C16".

I know what they look like. I wanted to know if they came with some combination of options, or with a certain type of seats, for example.

So, is this a stand alone option "rushed leather"? Only available with standard seats? On all colours?
What MY was this option they available? Did it include include other areas like the door cards?

Just trying to understand the options list if these 996.
Is there a price/options list of the 996.1 available as a PDF somewhere? Can't find one myself...

I know that car - last owner was a friend of mine.

Bit surprised at the sticker price TBH..

It was only available on standard seats and was available on all trim colours for the centre of seats only (option 982 if you want to be a geek). From memory ruffled leather only went on to the door cards on the first shape Cayenne. It looked awful on those as well, so you're very much in the minority biggrin

Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated!

While I'm not a fan per se, when I went to view an early non sunroof, black on black 996 C4 (are these considered to be early too, even tough they always where e-throttle?) I was surprised to find them rather fitting for the car at time. boxedin

Somehow it lifted the all black car and the leather felt more upscale than the ones that the standard leather.
Would I have specced it myself? No.
But I certainly wouldn't discount an otherwise good car based on the rushed leather (you could always fir Recaro PP seats)

It was an OK car - but the mileage goes against it & the general wear & tear you get at that mileage. Some corrosion needing attention as well IIRC
For 14k I'd be wanting a very tidy 50-60k miler. (Mine is in that category & I'd be surprised if i could get more than 13k at the moment)
