996 Turbo tyre size
Discussion
I need to have new front tyres fitted to my 996tt. I enquired via a well known tyre supplying/fitting company, using their online search.
According to my number plate that I entered, the size of front tyres are 235/40R18. Just checked on the car & I have 225/40R18.
I assume that 235 would have been fitted from new & previous owner fitted 225's, to save a few £'s?
I'm inclined to go for 235's. Any reason why I should stick with 225's?
Thanks

The standard size is definitely 225/40 18 on 8" wide wheels, and that's what I've got on the front of mine. A few of the online calculators seem to be populated with the wrong size, which could be an expensive mistake. You shouldn't put 235/40s on the front without also increasing the size of the rears, else the rolling circumferences could be different enough to affect the 4WD system.
