I think it was entitled "Sport" as they didn't have a button for it and had no time to put name options through the legals on the GT4.. Overall I think it basically is just fro the auto blip. Yes I know it opens the thrid rad and targets 85c but the car will do that anyway when you rag it.. I often use it when coming into traffic jams....

I didn't think I'd like auto blip but I have found myself using it when I want to be lazy... And yes I can heel and toe properly and do almost all the time!

It's a great system and very handy, who wants to heal and toe in jams etc people do make heal and toe out to be the hardest and trick thing to do lol , I find it adds nothing to my enjoyment of the car as once you can do it without thinking you can do it, end of, I only tend to do it to show off, other wise I have sport mode on in the GT4, as I stated I'll do it for the 1st 30 mins inside the car and then press sport.

I love changing gear and using both my legs and arms and having to plan ahead to drive a manual car and why I dislike PDK, heal and toe I can forgo, just a nice skill to have if you need to drive a Caterham etc.

No right and wrong but it's nice to have a choice in the manual, My R I use as a daily any way and you have to do it by default, I unlike most spend 3 or 4 hours a day In a car though, not just a weekend warrior.

3.5k but I have 2 other manual porkers to use also, My R is my main car day to day and is on 28k now.
The R's is a move involving drive imo. I guess I just like the older feel of the car at slower speeds.
I tend to use the GT4 as a lifestyle car these days for hook ups, euro hoons and SC meets.
If I want to go for a involving drive I'll take something else.

This post massively confuses me! confused

Heel and toe in traffic jams ?
Only tend to do it to show off ?

What the bloody hell are you on about?

At that level it's a track only skill, for the road you are having a laugh if you are hard / threshold braking lol, for a UK B road it's quite a simple operation.
YOU might find it harder because you took all the pedal travel out your brake pedal lol

On track a much harder skill to get the last 5/10th out of a lap and hence why the new bread of PDK drivers are so fast and yes I cannot get my corner speeds and car balance 100% perfect on track at the limit, but I do 2 a year these days. On the road you cannot ever get to those levels.

On Track in the 01 RS ..... you also have to get brake bias correct to avoid lock ups and flat spotting as no ABS ...

But what if we are not driving legends like you?

Regardless, I agree with the reviewer. Sport should be the default as it makes driving around far more comfortable with the smoother downshifts and sport should be the "I am a legend" mode allow you to heel and toe yourself. I find it tricky do on the road when I'm not applying a lot of brake pressure, on track I find it easier as you are applying a lot more pressure on the pedal so you dont have to modulate both pedals with one foot.

You shouldn't need to heel and toe in most road driving, the idea of heel & toe is to balance revs to wheel speed, so you don't lock the rear wheels........seems most driving gods are doing this around town and on their way to work !

I H&T in my 997 GTS all the time driving on the road....just do it because I enjoy it ! Don't think it makes me a bad person.....

And if my 991.2 GT3 allocation does materialise assuming I can get a manual I'll be doing it in that too!

Not sure why there's such negativity on the autoblip button tbh. If you don't want it, just don't press the thing surely? Definitely wouldn't want it there permanently but this way you do have a choice. I liked it more than I expected I have to say on the gt4, thought it was a quite entertaining feature to have and would flip it on every now and then just to see how much better I could be doing things. Seldom used it on the road but it was quite useful on track imo to free up a bit of extra brain space and to keep the drivetrain wear down.

Thing is, most of the aids can be turned pretty much off. I suppose Ealth and Safety rules etc means that a manufacturer like PORSCHE will never make anything like a Carrera GT again because of their potential liability. I also understand the GT3 Gen 2 has loads of slip allowance before the aids rein things back in. It's no good going on about the past make the most of the very best of what's on offer now.
