For my friends birthday in 2 years we have decided that we are going to do a Top Gear road trip of sorts. We are each allowed 2000 euro to spend on the car including any mods. The car will drive from Ireland across the UK to Dover and then to the Nürburgring in Germany.

My ideas so far have been Suburu Legacy 2L Twin turbo which will take up all the budget so will remain standard, or a BMW 320 which I can get a decent one for 1200 which will allow a remap and induction kit maybe. I would love a Clio 172 or something like that but at 6ft 7 I am limited to what cars I can have. The birthday boy is bringing his own classic mini but is spending 2000 making it track ready, another one of the boys picked up a S3 for 1700 and is going to sort the brakes for 300.

What I want is some nice power for the track but something that will also make the journey!

Any and all recommendations appreciated.

They are great suggestions, the Corrola is impossible to get here in Ireland as is the Reno. The Celica on the other hand is available for quite cheap I don't know if they are the 190hp version or not! focus STs are very expensive here!!
