Speed sensor - door opens when driving
Discussion
Had a near disaster earlier today when the passenger accidentally pressed the door opening button and the door opened at 50mpg aarrggghhh !!! Now that shouldn't have happened.
I've been through the wiring diagram and can see the slate grey wire which comes from the speed sensor which goes to the speedo has a T in it which goes to the door control unit (B9). So first thing was to check the continuity of the wire but sadly that wasn't the issue....wire is good.
So it looks as though it's an internal issue with the control box.
Not wanting to be off the road as we approach the summer while I send the box off to be sorted, any other good suggestions other than don't carry passengers to keep everyone safe ?
Cheers in advance

I haven't tested my doors at speed, for a bit
Looking at that diagram, providing the speedo's working, I agree that it shouldn't be anything other than the door module ignoring the input.
As a temporary fix, I suppose you could disable the passenger internal button, via a switch near to the door module. A sort of aftermarket 'child lock'

I'd more inclined to check the emergency pull cables are working.
I am embarrassed to admit that it took me a while to fix the emergency door release on the drivers side. However the emergency passenger door release has always worked, so at least I was only toying with my own safety. The failure was due to water ingress and corrosion causing the cable to seize, not ideal at all.

You lucky, lucky bd !
Mine only open at a maximum of 25mpg
They do, however still open up to approx. 5 mph
Auto correct ! I hate it.Mine only open at a maximum of 25mpg

25mpg .......I wish
I’m not sure if it’s the way i’m reading it, but it sounds like you don’t want her to get out
A word of warning, the first time I pulled my driver’s side, it came off in my hand.
I had to escape via clambering over in to the passenger’s side.
I’d be inclined to give them a pull periodically, to make sure they work.

Hello!
I want her to be able to get out, the problem is that she couldn't open the door with the emergency release...
Finally, I've plunged behind the panel to the catch only to discover that the release cable was linked to the top lever, which is much harder to pull than the lever pulled by the solenoid. I've changed the pulling point and now everything is fine. Finally pulling is not harder than in any car, which is a lot better.
After having a look there, I definitely recommend to test the system periodically : cable is only fixed with 1 screw (may add one or two for peace of mind) and there was leaves around the solenoid on both sides, meaning that air (and moisture) can get there...
Thanks for your reply!
