I've just picked up a lotus exige V6 which had ppf (ventureshield) applied on the front. I have read I shouldn't use a wax in cream form as it will show the edges of the film. Is there a liquid spray wax you would recommend? Should I use both on the paint work and ppf? Also, should I use polish on the film?

Any advice much appreciated!

I guess the issue you'll have if you use a paste wax is that it would gather round the edges of the film hence highlighting the edges.

A spray on sealant may be preferable. I top up the protection on my car with Gyeon Wetcoat which adds a layer or protection when you spray it on a wet car and rinse. It can be used as a standalone product too. smile

As for the film. I wouldn't polish it unless you need to remove any marks it may have picked up.

I'd say Alex is right. Autoglym do one of those waxes that sprays on when wet. I've used it a few times but couldn't comment on how good it is yet.

Autoglym also make a sealant called 'extra gloss protection'. It has a really good shine and is in a liquid form, almost like water and dries on really thin. It wouldn't build up against the edge. My only complaint is that it doesn't last more than a few weeks.

Failing that, any sort of detailing spray adds wax. Can use it on a dry car. Does help a little.

Maybe use a 'normal' wax on the whole car but stop before your clear bra, then continue with one of the alternatives above?

You shouldn't use a spray wax or any petroleum based products on the PPF, use either a good quality natural Carnauba wax or there are some synthetic coatings that are compatible to use on the film - They just won't last as long as they do on paint.

Use Gyeon Cancoat, Carpro Hydro2, Bouncers Bead Juice, Gtechniq C2v3, or put a ceramic coating on the whole car, Crystal serum/light, cquartz uk or similar.
