Hi,

Looking to upgrade my steel front discs to either 350mm PF or 362 Alcons, does anyone have any experience of either and any recommendation would be appreciated.

Also, any help with stockists?

Cheers

Here you go

https://uber9s.com

Speak to Nick he will be able to help. You can go up to 380mm at the front with a slight mod to calliper

PF very good for track but very noisey (even the later ones). Can't comment on the others.

The bells are re-usable. Nothing cheap when it comes to stopping a big GT car on track

I get that Steve, but Design911 do OEM or equivalents for £400-700 for a pair... Can't see Brembos being that much better!

That would depend on useage, for road use the Brembos would be overkill, for frequent track use, you'll be killing OEM drilled discs with frustrating regularity.

I normally do about 10 track days a year including 2/3 at the Ring and a couple at Spa. Also now looking at upgrading to 380mm with spacers for the calliper. Thoughts? Any more advice would be appreciated

Cheers

I get 3-4 days out of a set of OEM fronts with pagoda yellows and about 15 out of a set of brembo floating discs.

From a track perspective they are cost effective. Probably not on road only use

So what kills OEM discs? Poor heat dissipation?

Cracks emanating from the drilled holes in the faces.

Edit to add thread links with images (and Porsche guidelines for replacement due to cracking of drilled discs)

What car ? But irrespective of the car, I'd go Alcons with RS29's (though I'm hearing very good things about the PFC 08 and 11 pads) the Alcons will last waaaay longer than the standard items.

Brembo and PFC no doubt do similar 380mm disc pakages, but the Alcons are well proven. For Alcons speak to Matty at Fearnsport /Nick at Uber9's.

I've driven most combinations and would agree that in my experience the Alcon option is the best

I think Alcon VS Brembo come down to support and best deal, cannot see one being better than the other both are proven as are Gyro.

Pads mind you seems another story, the things I read about the magic of Endless pads sounds amazing lol

again you need deep pockets but the base pad mx72 plus sounds like the best road pad ever which can take 700 oc and do track days !
Little dust, quite and can take the heat !

what is this magic pad ! lol

My experience with Brembo is with the original toggled hat/disc combo. Maybe the gyro effect is better on the new set up

Hi Steve, have you had issues with the Bembo's then? What is the implications of the "gyro effect"?
