Thanks Mark. Wonder if it is possible to switch to the steel cage then... will ask the question.

There's a problem withTitanium cages on WP cars. (Supplier difficulty, not technically).
There is apparently going to be a reasonable delay for a lot of cars not yet built, but not sure how long.
Several people (not just in UK) have had this confirmed in the last few days.

Just been reading over on the Aston Martin section that some new cars specced with titanium exhausts have been delayed due to 'global shortage of titanium'.

I've heard of two differing weight savings of the Titanium vs Steel cages..One was 7kg and the other is a 12kg saving..I know its somewhat trivial but does anyone know the correct figure..?

Not sure they’ll have needed to use the low friction area given how cold and wet it is!

yep titanium cages are the problem.
I went red to match the interior and I've still got my white RS and yellow TurboS , I like different colours.
Porsche confirmed up to 8 weeks delay.

Everything we buy depreciates. Flipping is a form of income..
That's how you might like to see it, unless it's trading in disguise, it's a capital gain, and you would need to get credit for any capital loss on same stuff.

Anyway, I'm not planning to flip, but also can see why people do. It's ok for people to be 'holier than thou' on it, but how many would not take up £250k free cash if offered? Sometimes seems like it's ok to sell drugs, guns and gold, but flip a car and you're immoral!

I'd definitely flip if somebody offered my CGT money for a GT2RS - only a matter of time until they come back down again. See 911R, last GT3RS etc for examples of car that were sold at big premiums and then became cheaper again. I'd happily wait and then own a 18 months old used car (likely hardly used anyway), wait until it is no longer the latest etc and bag a nice profit in the meantime. On the other hand if I was rich and losing some money did not hurt me all that much but I wanted to be in a 2RS today, I'd happily pay the premium - life is short etc just as I accept that my cars depreciate, cost a fortune to insure etc

I think it is all fair enough, market forces perfectly at work (and I do think this period of big premiums will not last forever, the next thing will come along at some point). Just read an article that the Hagerty index is back to 2014 levels and dropped a similar percentage value to the drop in 2008 or 2009, so the making money with cars period might be over soon (for the non-professional trader).
The CGT is my dream car, my forever car!

I would never sell my GT2 for profit. I specced it with love and excitement to own it for years and years. I would sell it to trade/buy a nice CGT.

Is £700k really being paid for a nice fully loaded Launch spec WP?

Same here, not sure which is correct, though the 7-8kg seemed a better source at the time (forgotten where I read it though!)

I went with a steel cage on the Weissach Pack, because it is homologated, and also you can also add a front cage. Whether that's ever useful, who knows.,.but felt the right thing to do.
Bonus was a cost saving, and double bonus now, is that my car is still on schedule for completion this month.

Titanium cage supplier has gone bust AFAIK, so they need to validate an alternative.

A couple of months ago i sourced a company on the internet who made exact replicas of the 991's Titanium rear cage..They claimed that the Titanium cage weighs 40% less than the steel version and i know the steel cage weighs 17.5kg..This translates to a saving of 7kg and i'm sure i've read somewhere the Titanium weighs 10.5kg..

Yup, another confirmation from my dealer as well for the titanium supply issue. My car was already in late stage production and was unaffected. Another car from the same dealer is delayed - by a couple of months.

I was with a DP of an OPC yesterday who said they were getting 9 cars and he knew of another OPC with the same allocation.Whilst without doubt very rare they will not be built in the tiny numbers of the 997 GT2RS.
That sounds like a lot to me!

Shouldn't be too difficult for Porsche to check the spec against their orders and cancel it. Giving someone else a bite of the cherry...
