I assume you mean the gaiter is cracked and not the drive shaft!

This. Is the CV joint boot split ? If so, it should be easy to enough to find a genetic replacement. If however the CV joint itself has split (which would explain the click you've referred to) you'd be best speaking to the usual suspects, Euro Car Parts, Design 911, GSF, any decent Porsche breaker, Jasmine Porschalink etc.

The part number is the actual assembly. Try some of the salvage companies. Prestige Salvage break a lot of Porsches.

Unfortunately it's the shaft which has cracked. It's corroded quite badly and grease is weeping from it. Annoyingly the boots and clamps are all fine.

I've bought one from Germany from a used part supplier so hopefully it'll arrive in time and be fit for purpose.

The used one I collected on monday had damage to the splines.

Still on the hunt though just in case.

Thank chaps. I've spoken to all of those apart from Prestige who I'll call first thing

Hi I have also drawn a blank, with my suppliers.

There is also Van Zweeden, which appears to be a massive dismantler.

You could try www.ladismantler.com (on the right shipping service it takes under 48 hours from the USA) and also any race team who has raced something similar - Porsche Club GB Motorsport department may be able to help with suggestions.

Thanks for trying Chris, appreciate the help. Thanks too goose, I've emailed both garages.

Bit of good news today, the recon outfit has called to say that it's been refurbished. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and it'll be fitted Sat. Gives me a week to ensure all is well otherwise I've got a back up used part I've managed to source from Germany.

Thanks everyone

Interestingly I had exactly the same issue with my 2006 Cayman S.

Driveshaft on passenger side was leaking / cracked but the boots / clamps were all fine.

Managed to get it replaced on OPC warranty, this was last year and it did take a few weeks to arrive.

I wonder if the other side will soon follow?
