I booked tickets for two of us to go to South of France (Nice) in August

Had a slight bit of regret as been there twice before and not sure I want to spend all time paying through the nose for stuff and things being a bit too posh.

Im thinking now - spend two days in Antibes / Villefranche-sur-mer etc. and then get a convertible for two days and travel about. Im thinking of maybe going to gorges du verdon for a day or two and doing something more active like kayaking there.

Any other suggestions for things to see / do road trips - something differnet to the beach side of things.

Cheers.

Recently enjoyed a break in Cap Martin which is next to Menton. Really wasn't that dear and was an all-round pretty pleasant place to pass a week. Worth a visit, I'd say. (And of course next door to Monaco/Monte Carlo if you don't feel you've ate dinner unless the bill's at least 500 euros).

Road trip sounds good in theory, but bear in mind just how busy all the roads round the area are going to be in August. frown

I.m in SoF at the moment. It is 31C+. I've think I've seen two convertibles with the top down. The occupants looked VERY hot.

That was my first thought. Enterprise at marsielle tried to palm us off with a non-AC equipped car two weeks ago. We told them they could do something french with that and got "upgraded" to a corsa. Our satnav tablet overheated and shut down so i had to tape some paper over the centre vent to direct cool air over it - i never travel anywhere with my trusty electrical insulation tape.

Anyway yeah, nice whimsical idea but nah. Doesnt rainy old britian buy more rag tops than anywhere else ?
