Hello

As above, I've just put a deposit down on a 1997 Toyota MR2 - UK Car

I've 6 years no claims, and 27 - looking to keep the car in a garage as a second car and do 5000 (If that) miles PA.

Anyone know of any good insurance companies? I can get a quote for £470 from comparison sites.

But not sure if these could be classed as classics by some insurance providers? Quotemyclassic bought in a quote of £321. But when I went to purchase it said "site error" - so not sure if this is an error with the vehicle or just a genera website error.

If I can get another quote around £321 I will be over the moon, any thoughts on specialist insurers?

Thanks in advance

If it's modified, even partially you'd be surprised at the Insurance costs of going through a specific modified insurer. I did the same with my Mk2 MR2 when i owned it. I didn't do much apart from have a stainless midsport exhaust made and compared to the comparison sites of normal insurers if i remember right, it was at least 300 quid cheaper.

Sorry I didn't see your reply. I managed to get it on a classic car policy in the end for the original price that I got quoted. Modifications declared (Wheels and Exhaust) - Which I do plan to take off and put back to standard eventually.

Realise this is a bit late but my insurance with Admiral (who usually take a few mods) is about £150 under similar circumstances (age etc) on a 92 import. I don't know the exact price as it's part of a multicar at actually about £110 with the discounts. Alloys, aftermarket steering wheel and Air filter declared. They will do agreed value on older cars too (maybe 20+ years?).
