The things I do to get out of work...

Really pissed off as it was completely avoidable and all my fault. Just one of those lack of concentration moments.

Coming out of my road onto the main road. One car in front of me turning left as am I. It moves off. I look right and see its still clear for me. I start to move off, as I look round again I see the car has stopped due to a police car on blues coming towards us. Not a lot I can do. Hit the front brake and the front just slides out. Throwing me off. Must have been walking speed, no more than 10mph.

Damage to bike...snapped gear changer (thing of peg...no idea what its called?). Bar end bent and clutch lever bent. Still rides as had to ride it the short distance back home plus a few scratches.

Damage to me...small graze on my left knee and just very achy, and very damaged pride as happened in front of rush hour traffic. God knows how I managed to pick the bike up by myself. Girlfriend is worried, sister laughed and called me an idiot (can't disagree!).

Four and a half years since I passed my test, 25,000 miles in that time so can't complain too much. Won't make that mistake again though.

Few bikers stopped to see if I was OK as did a few cars which was nice...although all I wanted was the ground to open up ha.

Sorry to hear it pal.

They say it happens to everyone eventually, so count yourself semi lucky that it was so minor..!

Guess you'll be glad to buy those leathers with the free money wink

It's a minor little off, that many have done, in fact it doesn't really count as an off.

Ha yep! Although already in decent textiles/gloves, so could be a lot worse (and I've read Dibbles thread and realise things can be a lot worse).

I had a similar speed accident after about 7 years of riding when I went over on some frost at a t-junction about 100 yards after leaving my house. Pedestrians asked if I was ok, but like you it was 99% just my pride that was hurt. Like you, I picked the bike up (to the onlookers surprise) and carried on my journey, but with the indicator swinging and some new scratches to the bike.

Like has been said, these things sometimes occasionally happen. Don't feel too bad.
