Nice! Out of curiosity, what temp does your oil reach after the passes? Mine usually gets to 110, always worries me a bit...!

110 is quite normal if driven spritely wink

Prices appear to be on the up

I punch my car reg into wbac every so often. Quote for 2007 997.1 c2 in November was 15k. Yesterday just under 23k

I'm sure they'll reduce the bid if it came to me selling but prices look higher than six months ago

Do any of you learned 997.2 owners know much about the option '183 Super Hot Country Version (3rd centre radiator installed in front bumper)'?

It's an OEM option fitted to a UK RHD car I'm looking at. I'm wondering if the owner spec'd it in hope it would keep the engine/oil cooler and protect the engine or that they planned to do a lot of crawling in traffic (evidence that the car was used in London).

Apart from being yet another front mounted rad to rot out, anything else I should consider about it?

Cheers,

Paul

Don't know about it specifically but was told by a friend that some of the German cars like big SUV have what he called gulf spec AC. This was what he learned from a week in Saudi, just on holiday. New cars sold there come with this gulf spec AC to cope with the temps and keep occupants cool. And cars imported as used which do not have it are worth less as a result. It's not just bigger condensers for the AC but bigger compressor too. So bigger beefed up AC system overall.

The 997.1 X51 performance pack option came with a third radiator, I wonder if the .2 had the same?

Thanks for the replies. It’s a third rad for the coolant system, not AC, and it’s a Uk car, so not an import. It’s listed as a part of the original build spec but is not related to any other enhanced performance features - in all other respects it’s a fairly modestly spec’d C2S.

It’s somewhat odd for the original owner to have spec’d it but they must have specifically asked for it. Google suggests a fair few owners have added this rad aftermarket to aid cooling (alongside the cooler thermostat).

It’s not part of 7.2 power kit. My GTS does not have it.

On the 991.2 I had the pdk models had a central radiator whilst the manual ones didn’t.

Maybe this is also true of the 997.2 model.

Is the car in question a pdk?

Do tiptronics come with this?

Yep, PDK. But there are also 997.2 PDK without it - my belief is that it was optioned rather than OEM spec.

How could a radiator be optioned? It's either part of a pack, or fitted by accident.

It's option code is 183 and it is listed on the identity label. Not part of a pack.

Yes. 997.1 Tiptronics have the 3rd ( central ) radiator fitted as standard to cool the transmission. 997.1 manual cars do not have the rad. fitted. It is blanked off with black plastic. frown

If anyone was wondering, you can fit two front 235/19” tyres on the front seat.

Realised my boyhood dream yesterday after almost buying my first 911 countless times over the last 10 years. Gen 2 Carrara S with factory aero, manual and a few little mods:

Drives amazing, it’s in amazing condition for an 11 year old car, wonderful mix of modern and classic, great mechanical feel and noises - can’t see what else I could want even with a lottery win! Drives even better than I expected it to - super happy!

Nice! Well done - nice car. The slotted bonnet must be a mod; my 997.2 C2S Aero doesn't have it!
