Between 10k and 20k.
Thank you! Some people get half a job and just have say one bank [of 3 pistons] fixed. So this is the cheapest option to fix some bore scoring. That would end up about 10k. If you go for all 6 it is more like 13k or 14k if you have no extras. Some add a new clutch, engine mounts, pipes, tubes etc while the eigne is coming out and this all adds up. Or you could go for a capacity increase too. Then I think the total is like 20k tops.
I think I was quoted around 18k and that was to bore out to 4.1 and pretty much all ancillaries replaced. My rebuild only had 4, 5 and 6 done, which in most cases will be sufficient. The cars I had scoped (4 in total) never saw anything on 1, 2 and 3 always 4, 5 and 6 with 6 always being the worst.

So this was quote only and not the bill ? As to go to 4.1 you would need both banks done ? At £18K ?Terry Winks said:
An early getaway dashed by a non starter in the cold! I think it definitely needs a new battery, any recommendations? It started yesterday, as soon as it’s cold and we had a bit of frost last night it’s useless. Hopefully 30 mins of blast should see it good!
Bosch S5-110 85ah - get it from Tanya Batteries for next day delivery and an outstanding price. To quote myself from my readers car thread:

Now, since I have been pootling around with my new toy, the battery in the 997 went flat. In my infinite wisdom, I left the boot open
While at the garage, I had a nut welded to the last hole of the battery tray, so I could fit a bigger 353x175x190 battery.
Out with the old 315x175x175 mm Varta with 85 Ah and 800 CCA and in with the new Exide 353x175x190 mm with 100 Ah and 900 CCA.
Now the starts seems to start even before I turn the key, be it hot or cold

I've seen those holes and just assumed all had a nut behind there already.I know many, you included, like to fit a small, light LiPo battery. With my driving style, I don‘t mind some extra kilos and prefer old school high cca and Ah.

I’d be curious about the reason for a complete respray. Although it’s done a lot of miles, the paint holds up quite well on these cars apart from the front end?2005
