Pagid RS29 - Unbearably Noisy
Discussion
Super impressed with the performance of the RS29 pads I've got on my 996 C4S, However the noise is making the car an absolute nightmare to drive on the road.
I take the car into work and on little non-ten tenths excursions from time to time and I find myself reluctant to press the brake because of the squeal. To be honest its really embarrassing.
I did expect some noise but I can't imagine how anyone would be able to put up with it for road use. No amount of hard stops will clear it. It's driving me mad.
I'm considering swapping back to standard pads. Before the pads go on ebay does anyone have any tips to reduce the noise?
Ta!

I have ran 2 Porkers with RS29 and both have been quite
My mate fitted RS29 and he had to take them out. or a shop did for him.
what's the issue to this, I am not sure but 1st.
did you clean your old disks, and I mean put a drill though the disc holes, and sand the disc.
did you add the Pagid CeraTec Brake Lube to the pins and springs on the calipers.
did you then follow the bedding in to the book to allow pad transfer to the disc (this is why you clean the old disc as much as you can)
when I have done this to both my GT3 and my R the pads did not make a noise, just the odd one if I ended up in town to often, a few 100 mph stops would cure that.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I did bed them in when new according to Pagid instructions. Then proceeded to do a full day at Spa and then Ring so wasn't exactly babying them!
Went to amsterdam right after the trackday (Can recommend!) and the noise around town was unbearable. Anything below about 30mph thats not standing on the pedal creates the most horrendous squeal every single stop. Been like that since despite some good road workouts.
Had new rears fitted when they went on. Front discs were not changed, or cleaned as far as I know. Maybe thats worth looking at. I will try to see if the rears are making the same racket.
I'll check with my Indi about the grease question, How would this create the squeal?

It's possible. I had new discs at the same time as I had RS29s fitted and they did squeak a bit at first, even after proper bedding in, but have since settled down. There's just the very slightest noise on slow stops in traffic.Been here, done this ... Twice.
Street driven (hard) 996 GT2 and M3 CSL.
It'll be the rear pads, incorrectly bedded or glazed (as a result of the above) you may think you've heat cycled them sufficiently, but I'd suggest you haven't.
A few options :
Chuck 'em (or sell them to hardcore trackdayista)
Lend the rear pads to a hardcore trackdayista and let them get some serious temperature into them (of course if they are already glazed, this probably won't help, they'll merely overheat the pads as they're toast already. Been there, done that)
Fit standard rear pads or go to something like Pagid RS19's
