First 911R I have seen on the Used Porsche Locator... Not hugely different to our cars and £420,000
It's nicely spec'd too.

Picked mine up and did 600 miles in Wales last weekend. The car is at Porsche now for a couple of weeks (whilst away) as they have a problem with the airbag saying it has deployed. This is common to a number of Porsches at the moment apparently.
Anyway, my car is obviously very tight and waiting the running in, but is massively quicker than a couple of GT4s with me on our trip. Clutch is light and gearbox/ engine/ steering.... basically the whole car... a delight.
I have had GT3s since the first (1999) and quite a few RSs including 4L. This car is fantastic. Not saying the others weren't any good mind just that this is the cream.
I think that people that have the manual are looking to work a bit harder. I had a 991.1 GT3 and drove both .1 and .2 at the PEC. The new one feels much more aggressive, but suspension is even better (how do they do that... firmer yet more compliant?). The new pdk is a switchblade and a real tool on track. For me, a bit to easy on the road.
I have a '65 race car, 964RS and 3.2CS and these again you have to work. I have a 718 boxster with pdk if I want an easy life and that has been fantastic on continental journeys with hood down and wife very happy.
Would be good to have both pdk and manual GT3 really!
There .... is everyone happy now!

How do you know it's massivey quicker with only 600 miles on it ?Anyway, my car is obviously very tight and waiting the running in, but is massively quicker than a couple of GT4s with me on our trip. Clutch is light and gearbox/ engine/ steering.... basically the whole car... a delight.

Sus is better than the .1 due to the same helper spring as seen on the GT4.

Given the helper springs on the .2gt3 likely (as on the 991rs and gt4) is fully blocked under static load and exists primarily to allow for sufficient negative travel, how does it help ride quality......?flat6ajg said:

I love the sound of your garage - I too mix the old air cooled cars with the modern stuff and enjoy nothing more than hoping out of the old and into the new and vice versa.
Can I ask - how do you compare the clutch weight to the GT4 or have you no reference point there ? I have a GT4 and a 981 Spyder and the Spyder clutch is lighter than the GT4 but still has a lovely weight & feel to it - I prefer it - If I get a GT3 allocation I will go manual and use it as my DD and am hoping the clutch is a tad lighter than the GT4 - if not it would still be great as I’m using the GT4 as my DD now and it’s fine.
Also tell me about the gear throw - is it lovely and short and notchy like the 997.2 RS ?
Lastly If you can be bothered, I’d love to see some pictures of the ‘65 race car - well in truth I’d love to see pictures of them all

Wow - epic write-up, thank you. You obviously have good references including th 4l, so to say this is the cream is a big statement indeed. Enjoy your running in and look forward to your thoughts when you can open it up fully Anyway, my car is obviously very tight and waiting the running in, but is massively quicker than a couple of GT4s with me on our trip. Having driven both PDK and manual GT3.2s can you shed light on the recent somewhat controversial debate regarding the manual GT3 having less sparkle at higher revs compared to the PDK.Many thanks in advance.
