You might feel differently when you get your GT3. The Spyder is fun and roof down on a lovely day especially so, but it ain't no GT3 imo.
I'd hope not; it's nearly 1/2 the price of a GT3 smile
Of course, but since the two cars were being compared...
Tru dat smile
Half the price but nowhere near only half the fun.
I’m sure the GT3 is fantastic, would like one. Not sure I’d enjoy it hugely more than my 997RS though.
Alps, early air cooled all day. Spyder second.

Well yes, early air cooled of course over Spyder. But if we are changing the goalposts then CGT for me.

Now this is interesting and haven't seen it mentioned on here before you can do "flat upshifts" with the manual gearbox. I.e. Keep the accelerator pedal depressed and dip the clutch to change gear!

There's a bit about it from page 3 onwards on this thread on Rennlist. Anyone on here tried this ?!

How the hell has this slipped under the radar ! Using it for work today so will report back later.

Yep that definitely works . Full throttle up or down shifts ( or part throttle ) with a nice crack / pop in between shifts .

That’s interesting - must have been a little nerve racking trying it the first time in case you lunch the gearbox!

I use to flat shift my TTRS nothing new

Not worth the hassle/wear though, you can flat shift ANY manual car but it puts stress on the clutch plate and tranny.
or are we saying the GT3 ECU cuts ignition ? and stops spikes so a bit safer for noobie's to have a play.

Enging speed is controlled automatically. Click on the Rennlist link...there's a picture of the handbook if you scroll down.

Yes ran in , use the car pretty much every day . You don't need to be full throttle to try it , works at any revs . No risk at all .

Considering how many pages of discussion there can be on stitching colour I'm surprised this fairly significant technical feature ( whether you like it or not ) is hardly getting a mention .

FWIW I think it's a interesting feature. Downshifting to overtake on full throttle for example is fun , with a pretty decent pop / crack in between gears. And if you wanted to extract best 0-60 this would also definitely be the way to do it . Not sure how natural it would be to use in spirited driving but we'll see .

If anything using it this way will be easier on the box as the changes are smoother .

Cue a load of discussion around how I'm a useless driver now that I'd even consider this a good thing smile

Merry Christmas everyone.xmas
SO glad I've gone for manual. Incorporating the flat shift will just add to the occasion.
This car is sounding better by the day.
Here's the video uploaded from the renlist member who started the flat shift thread.
Listen to the engine. Just awesome bow

"PSE was on and Sport off. All up-shifts were flat (no lifting from gas). Downshifts were manually rev matched. Kept the revs to 5k since it's not fully broken in. Best demonstration would be with a fully broken in car at the track."

I've been doing flat throttle changes at 8-9000 rpm . Lovely pop / crack in between shifts .

Also thought I might read the manual last night in case I'd missed anything else ..... I have ! You can launch control the manual . I'll try next time out . It does say every time it's used is logged in the data .

I bet it is fabulous.
I wanted a 991.2 GT3 but was unable to secure one at a decent price. Then thinking of a 991.1 PDK version. Theonly trouble is i love my manual 997.1 GT3 . It is nice to stir the cogs.
Im sure the 991.1 is great. Had a brief test drive of one a few months ago, but just could convince myself to change.
