Ok

600 miles..... just my opinion, but I have driven a lot of cars (quite old!). Gut feeling is a decent step up from the 991.1. It feels gruff like the original GT3 996. However, suspension is very capable now and no need to put it in Sport mode.

Lost verve at top end..... difficult to say. The pdk is obviously super smart at changing gears, but when you get a manual change right on any car, you bond with that car. The pdk makes it too easy. Suits most people I guess and I don't why a lot of people have to make pronouncements that one is supremely better than the other. It is just horses for courses. I do feel that people that make these big poiunts have another agenda and are probably looking to win the battle on the forums to boost the value of their car.

Clutch weight.... yes lighter than GT4

That's great to hear and a light clutch will make it much more useable. The gt4 is actually quite heavy although nothing like some of the older 997 gt cars.

Can't wait for Jethrow to review a manual. Can't be long now? https://youtu.be/Ts2OWUM-erU
Do we know what happened to JB and Drivetribe. He did not post any new material since May
I think Drivetribe is slowly fading away....JB and Catchpole both left at a similar time. Catchpole is now at Carfection
Just watched a YouTube video with Catchpole reviewing the McLaren 570GT in Scotland a really good video and well worth a watch, he does know how to make a good interesting video, some first class roads with great scenery.

lacks car content :-(

there are many country file type TV programs to look at.

I want to hear about cars in car you tube vids, not odd words or a house he might like and Rob Roys grave !

I think the internet is going south atm, the endless CH fails, drivetribe fails, and the endless rich car you tubers.

Great vid and can't wait, like Bovingdon to see what its like with a manual having driven the PDK.
He is right though about always trying to find the top end in the PDK car. i used to find myself travelling at really silly speeds just to get my enjoyment.

So finally collected my stunning GR manual GT3 yesterday. Done almost 200 miles already! Totally addictive.

I sold my 996GT3.2 to get this and it's a massive leap in capability. Took it for a fast drive on some roads I know well including some pretty poor surfaces. The way it soaks up the road and holds its line is breathtaking.

And the engine. What an engine! It's so frustrating only using 4k revs but the noise, very loud so God knows what it's like at 9k. Have to be really careful in corners not to exceed 4k. However the GT3 is so involving, even charismatic at relatively modest speeds it'll be a joy running her in.

The manual box is also a delight being firm and positive. Really adds to the experience.

Roll on tomorrow morning!

I'd be interested in hearing how you lucky people that have taken delivery think of the pedal position/offset when Heal & Toeing. I really enjoy using H&T and found the pedal "offset" between the brake pedal and accelerator in a manual 991.2 GTS with PCCB's pretty challenging compared to my 997 GTS which has steel brakes. The pedal travel of the brake pedal on the PCCB equipped 991 meant that it was quite a "reach" with the outside of my right foot for the accelerator....I imagine steel brake equipped cars are much better ?

Be interested to hear how you guys are finding it. If my 2018 slot gets confirmed in November definitely ticking manual and really want PCCB's.

Having picked the car up yesterday and driven it just over 350 miles today running it in, I have found the despite the grills on the front bumper you still get autumn leaves gathering around the condensers and radiators on both sides just like the 997 used to suffer from. Had to make an adaption to the vacuum cleaner to get it in behind the grills and suck the leaves out.

The other annoyance is the continual Emergency Call that keeps going to the contact centre reporting that the air bags have deployed. Assume others have this issue as well, anyone know if there is a fix yet? Will report back to the dealer in the morning, in the meantime I have asked the contact centre to ignore any alerts over the next week.

Other than that, absolutely love the car...just having to display great restraint running it in and keeping below 4500 rpm.

It's no where near as easy to h&t the GT3 as say my old Carrera 3.2 which is ridiculously easy in all conditions. Too early to tell really due to running it in but I suspect you have to be really on it, which of course is the challenge, and another reason we went for the manual. Could of course simply use autoblip smile

Thanks for the heads up on the leaves. Must admit I assumed most detritus would be kept out but after forking out on a new radiator with the last one I will try to be more careful this time.

Regarding Vodafone my car hasn't called them yet but the dealer was very aware of the problem and apparently Porsche are on the case.

Glad you're enjoying the car!

Yeah I think it's a very, very difficult job to really make money out of it.....clearly the content these guys produce is hugely valuable to the manufacturers and there are plenty of people that want to watch it BUT it's very, very difficult to charge for it. Look at Chris Harris....after he left Autocar he must have been on three or four different online channels and ultimately it's worked for him because he developed a great presenting style which obviously the BBC liked....he's the exception though.

Are we having a Cars and Coffee at Portsmouth to celebrate its arrival and handover?

Just over 600 miles on mine now and all going very well. The airbag deployment emergency call issue was a pain and I spent 3 hours at Portsmouth on Monday when they downloaded all the fault codes and linked it up to the engineers in Germany. Unfortunately despite all the valiant efforts a fix wasn't found so the system has been deactivated until it can be resolved. Apart from the I am loving the car, just not the weather at the minute. However weekend looks better!

I have held off posting for a while now until I could find some time to put my thoughts together but I can hold off no longer.

The take-away headline is the 991.2 GT3 with a manual gearbox is one of the best contemporary 911's to come out of the factory for a while.

It truly is sensational!

Not driven one mind you but thats what I reckon biggrin

Haha indeed, all these poor people who have gone PDK? They might as well have bought a used 991.1! I'll be able to confirm your thoughts shortly when I take delivery and do about 500 miles in a weekend around North Wales!

Are there any new reviews out for the manual yet bar the ones we've seen?
