Yeah, l read the T review first- it was disappointing, then the GT3 touring review which was equally luke warm?! Both reviews lost credibility with me after that.
So if a review does not give you an answer you like you dismiss it? What if it's on the money and you're kidding yourself?
Come off it, GregorFuk - you're talking to people who make big decisions based on manmaths.

Not at all, the T review could be quite correct. Personally I can't see how in today's turbo world the GT3 touring isn't a fabulous car that you couldn't possibly be underwhelmed by? If it didn't impress I'd say it's time to give up on cars?
In my eyes the GT3 review has to be inaccurate, so do I then believe the T review?

So I just popped into my OPC to discuss the DAB issue.

After a lot of discussions in the back office, I was eventually told that unfortunately I will not be getting DAB, as this option was not selected when I specced the car and it’s already been built!

Not very impressed by this I have to say, as already mentioned I am shocked that a car costing almost £100k does not have DAB.

I was not offered any resolve to this issue.

I will go back tomorrow and speak to my usual salesman as he was not in today.

That's really not good enough, as it wasn't an available option when you specc'd the car. Originally, PCM was described as including it and when Porsche realised it didn't, they sneakily added it to the configurator as a no-cost option. Other posts here suggest Porsche GB will retro-fit. I'd be mad as hell if I were you!

No DAB......

It’s great! Really engaging drive, the noise and seats are certainly big pluses for me, the 7th gear is a little confusing and unnecessary which would be my only negative I’ve found. Mine could possibly be a little over yellowed inside but personally I like it. Oh, and the speakers aren’t up to much.

It’s certainly got a lot of positive feedback from anyone who’s seen it too.... It’s converted the sceptics.

Good to hear you’re enjoying it Jh90! I’m wavering on the seats - I really want the buckets but not sure whether to take the plunge

Main reason I went for the buckets, was because you can’t spec them in anything other than an GT model normally.

To All Chavs, wannabe drug dealers, Knight Riders and people who believe choice is important... oh and dog owners, people who want to leave stuff on the back seat and those who might like darkened and tinted glass and anyone else who actually cares..

My dealer has spoken to the Product Manager at Porsche UK... (and also the guy sorting out the DAB debacle) he has stated again, and I have it via e-mail ...that the tinted glass IS also the Lightweight glass, so hopefully those listed above should be OK...of course until we get the cars who really knows but a little assurance..
Guys.... it looks like the above i was told this morning was incorrect..... and it looks like Porsche has spotted this and changed the configurator again today.......

Sorry for getting anyone’s hopes up....

Pissed off letter going to dealer as we speak. Another config change after placing order.

Agreed. Everyone knows it won't be day and night different to a carerra. I prefer manual, l even prefer the clean classic narrow body,l don't need anymore power either. The T gives an opportunity to have a manual without a whole hoo haa come resale- bizarre what marketing achieves..
Ok it's a run out parts special, but it's as close as there is for my choice in a new 911.
Shame it's a turbo though- it's depressing the only other remotely similar new car with NA is the GT3 touring.

I agree. I think it's obvious when you think about it (as per my post earlier) but the configurator should be much clearer

Well it wasn't obvious at the time that the early builds locked. These screenshots are taken from the Australian configurator just 10 minutes ago and show what the UK config looked like up until very recently. Poor Bruce & Sheila don't yet know they're going to miss out LWG.

I'm peeved because Porsche tried to serrepticiously rectify the configurator without informing purchasers.
Anyway, it kind of doesn't matter for me anymore because my dealer was reasonable and has given me another fully speccable allocation so I will get LWG and DAB, but I feel for other buyers taking delivery soon who are still in the dark.

I agree and it definitely wasn't obvious when order was placed, In fact my order sheet says '• Rear screen and rear side windows in lightweight glass' AND 'XPL Privacy glass (rear side windows and rear window)'

If I had been given the choice, I would have gone with LWG. I can always retro-fit privacy !!

I will be kicking up a fuss on this and DAB.

For anyone interested, I can confirm that the lightweight rear glass does not have the heater element in there - just seen one handed over today in my OPC and could not see anything in the glass at all.

I'm going with tinted rear and side windows and would actually prefer the rear heater/ demister - as it's a DD.

Good point, terry. No heating element in the rear window would have been a right pain in the arse.. We all use it so much.

Looks like Porsche have made a bit of a mess of DAB and Thin Glass, I have managed to remove rear tinted window this morning with my dealer, not really that bothered but feel it adds to the 'T' specification and is the same glass as a GT2 RS which makes it that little bit more special imo. Feel for those who's spec is already locked down!
