Anyone for ‘T’

I have specced mine up as well. Not ordered yet as I really want to know more about the ratios in the close ratio box. Does anybody know yet? I was a bit disappointed at the 20kg weight difference so don't want to be disappointed with the gearbox as well.
Having spent last weekend in a base manual Carrera which I found surprisingly enjoyable, I wouldn't die in a ditch over the shorter gearing if that's your only concern - 2nd and 3rd in the Carrera were the same as on my 997 GTS (75mph and ~105mph), so already significantly shorter than 997 GT3 and 981 gearing, yet for all but the last 1K rpm it pulls significantly harder than my 997 GTS. Don't get me wrong, shorter is better, but I was still clacking up and down through 2nd, 3rd and 4th plenty, so even if the T is only a little shorter, it'll still be even better Hi,
I placed a £5000.00 deposit on the 23rd Oct, I've been told I have an allocation, with a build date the end of Feb and delivery Mid March. I love manual cars and I'm trusting Porsche know what they are doing and have given us a great (Road) drivers car!

I'm really liking the look of this new 'T'.
Although I have a GT3 Touring arriving in early 2018, I do think a sensibly specified 'T' will offer most people much of the fun and satisfaction at a considerable saving.
I subscribe to the 'less is more' mantra when it comes to 911s, and 16 years with a 2,7RS 'lightweight' and 3.2'CS', constantly reminded me of the benefits of not carrying any more weight than necessary.
I'd definitely want pccbs, preferably buckets, lwt or folding, cruise, probably RWS, and then I'd start being cautious with what's needed and what adds weight and cost.
The Sunroof would be a definite no, no, - too much weight in the wrong place and not that good IME. Careful with lights, I've heard that LEDs add significant kilos. PCM? perhaps.

You have clearly understood the ethos of the T and speccing it pretty much exactly as i would.I have a new GT3 so the T is not under consideration. The T needs to be as light as possible, however i would tick PCM for the phone..Although I have a GT3 Touring arriving in early 2018, I do think a sensibly specified 'T' will offer most people much of the fun and satisfaction at a considerable saving.

My spec would include LWBS,PCCBS,RWS,Manual but not much else. I would definitely not have LEDs and sunroof for the same reasons you cite.

Finally found a PDF brochure on Porsche.com. They love to bury them. Slightly concerned about the reference to soundproofing being reduced to a bare minimum. I know it is a sports car but I want something useable on a day to day basis.
Porsche have reduced the insulation on the gen 2 GT3 but this can still be used as a daily.GT4 noisier car the the Gen 1 Gt3 but again the GT4 is suitable for daily use.

Broadly agree with Taffy on the spec but personally I think ceramics are too expensive on the T, a non GT car, and rws is questionable too. Don't think my spec will include these but pcm is free and really a no brainer. My spec would include LWBS,PCCBS,RWS,Manual but not much else. Not sure I'd like to use mine as a daily, to much cabin noise and rattles from the engine driving it around town.It sure is an 'event' though when I do use it
Hate the bag of nails clatter of the gen 1..is yours PDK? Just had my gen 2 allocation confirmed prob going manual but PDK poss quieter?

Interested to hear why people are (thinking of) specifying buckets, either folding or lightweight. I get it on a track car, but on a 'touring' I'm not so sold. And I had them on my CR...
Weight I imagine...given the ethos of the car is driver focus and weight reduction it would make sense to continue that theme with how you spec it. Buckets and PCCB's being the two options that do that...but combined they're £10k.Although I reckon a T thus equipped will be forever sort after.

I think the manual 'T' provides the opportunity to create a 'junior' 911R/GT3 Touring, so some of the more driver focussed options such as seats, pccbs, etc, help distinguish it from the more mainstream 991s. The folding buckets would be very good in a 'T', with not too much compromise and that extra security that you can feel, even on the road.
