Can't agree. I'm 6 feet 2 and 15 stone and have been strapping myself into Bucket seats for years. If I have to sit in an adjustable bucket seat, it's adjusted to the same angle as a fixed bucket.

There's a reason why GT race seats are all basically the same shape. The driver must be held in the most comfortable and efficient driving position.

It may not be comfortable for you, but it is the best position and one that all drivers that do the job for a living will insist on
have you been in a 918 style seat for 3 hours ? is it even a TUV approved race seat ! I doubt it.

I have had the 996 GT3 seats, very very nice seats to sit in, the real GT range again nice but maybe too tight for you they are very thin for a 15 stone person, they are tight on me at 11 stone.
the folding bucket perfect for a lot of people hence a lot of people switching back., Recaro pole's perfect again , can sit in those for hours.

918 style buckets not nice ;-)

I am not slagging off bucket seats I can do the Ring to Leicester in my folding buckets with no stop !

Understood. I thought that all porsche fixed buckets were the same. On saying that the GT4's that I drove had fixed buckets and I found them fine. 34" waste so I fit in most seats

So played around with the configurator(PJ3QLA98) down to £88k. Got me thinking all 991.2 engines are same mechanicals so not too hard or expensive to increase hp and end up with better car than Gts for less money

And lose your warranty, it's not worth it.

Oops, forgot to say - if I were in the market for a new 911 DD, I'd be looking at a 991T first. I think that it will be a car far greater than the sum of its parts
I agree...it's a very interesting proposition.

Again I agree, mainly for the ethos and less sound deadening. Would prefer the 6 speed but woudl be happy with 7 if 7 is an overdrive gear..

Should be a nice car, could do with slightly thinner tyres...

I like the concept of the T and think it's a good idea, I don't think it would work on the 'S' as it would eat into the GTS Odets which is also stated as a sum greater than the value of its parts.
The one thing I feel would genuinly make it into a special car is if they really stripped it out properly and went to town on it as a back to basics car, that would sell like hot cakes I suspect As it is, by the time you put your creature comforts back in - you are pretty much back to where you started. To keep it closer to the original, they should limit the options list.
The thought of a base GT3 type car would really interest me.

Just seen Porsche have just released a 911 T, nice to see its not a limited edition and has all the right bits for the enthusiastic driver, PASM, LSD, manual box with shorter gearing and optional buckets as well.

Looks like they have answered all the criticism about only making halo cars no one can actually buy, it will be very interesting to see how well it sells as it probably won’t attract speculators.

Anyone going for one ?

Is this not just a cynical ploy to charge a premium for a vanilla 911 with a few simple bolt ons? A real Porsche 911 has an NA engine. They do cars like that of course but they won't sell them to the likes of us. This is just another very good no doubt stockbrokers car, like all the turbo units, and nothing to get excited about. If you want a turbo sports, the best is the McLaren, not even in debate. If you want NA it's looking like the Huracan, which conveniently is upping it's game.

The T is a re-mixing of the ingredients. A new recipe if you like. We have yet to drive it so we don't know if it's a success but the signs are encouraging.

Porsche has been building turbo road cars since 1975 - that's 42 years. They are very real and here to stay. We have to accept this, just as we did when Porsche went water-cooled, and move on.

No one is going to be considering £150k Huracan v £150k McLaren v £80k T.

Actually it’s going through my mind. I am one of many who is after a 991.2 GT3 but it seems unlikely to happen; not enough Cayennes, Turbos etc in my buying history. I have a 997.2 GT3 which I like, but I tend to rotate through cars as part of the enjoyment of car ownership.

If the new GT3 isn’t to be then I’m pondering a Macca 570. I’ve thought about a GT4 and the new T sounded interesting too. I’ve also thought about a Vantage V12 and even saw a black 8C (but it sold super quickly before I had a chance to get excited!).

I know they’re all relatively different prices and have different strengths and weaknesses, but I am running a one in one out policy these days, rather than rounding out a portfolio, and hence Im not looking for any one thing such as a GT or track day monster and so on.

This is what I'm thinking Steve - Porsche has previous with improving certain specials beyond what the basic spec sheet says. Whether that's suspension tuning or whatever...(thinking eg 996 C4S, 997 GTS). We shall see!

In my original plan for 2017, I would have been due to make a decision on what to do about my 981 Cayman GTS at around this time Oct/Nov..... and this 911 T would have probably been a car I would have taken a serious look at to replace the GTS as the one car to do it all. As it turned out.. an off chance visit to my OPC in March resulted in me buying a GT4 on the spot which I've been thoroughly enjoying - was at PEC last week with PCGB... and I acquired a Mk7.5 Golf GTD for mundane duties.
But I have to say... this 911 T has got me looking sideways....I must be such an easy target for Porsche Marketing.

Selling like hot cakes... my OPC done 9 deposits so far. I'm not surprised tbh - it'll be a fun car (PDK a no no) with very minimal depreciation. One thing I think will appeal as well is this car doesn't need much money spent on extras so if you keep it to £90k or under it'll work out quite cheap on a monthly payment as 911's (especially anything a little bit different) have big GFV's. Poverty spec is wise spec.

Once the 3 year warranty is done, I think I'll get the techart remap for my 991.2 manual and uprate the front rotors and calipers to create GTS performance. I agree that the engine is designed for it. Porsche have just varied the turbo impeller size fractionally between the carrera models so that they can claim there is a mechanical difference between the cars. I'm not a fan of alcantara anyway to be honest.

I think you are spot on, too many extras brings it back to a base 911. If I were looking at one, I would keep it lean to keep it close to its ended set up

Yup, agree completely.

My Porsche Code is PJFINDP2

Ordered mine on Wednesday evening. Very excited indeed, my first every built to order Porsche. Believe I am second in the queue at my friendly local Porsche Centre but that they have 5 orders already.

This will be a superb all rounder.
