Yes sadly the Porsche "enthusiast " has changes from years ago , money is the new king ....... I may never be able to buy another new GT porsche ...... who cares , I relish the heritage not the Brand ... hence of to race my GT3 RS at Daytona over the weekend , hope it goes well .
Yes I will "lose" a lot of money but life is too short to worry about "overs " ..
You're off to Daytona? You kept that quiet smile

Anyway, best of luck.

I'm not so sure and tend to agree with tyinsky's view.

My opinion would be the best way for manufacturer's to operate is how BMW and Ford operated with the M2 and Mk3 RS, respectively i.e. build as many units as production capacity will allow however be upfront with the market about how production will cease at some point. This would seem to give adequate notice for serious customers to place orders whilst preventing the completely bizarre value increases we see which pisses people off and/or makes the cars unobtainable for many.

I think Porsche already do make as many GT Cars as production allows....they are a small volume manufacturer. They only sell13 ,000 cars int he UK a year of which circa 3,000 are 911's. My guess is 500 of those 3,000 911's annually are GT cars or other limited edition models.

The problem is that Porsche don't have the manufacturing capacity more than anything.

And what with the likes of China demanding more and more, production gets squeezed in other places.
For me Porsche is already making too many cars...

Yes, really. There is a few people that have had every iteration of the GT Porsche, and every time they have sold straight back to the dealer within weeks of taking delivery.

Porsche GB don't care, they are just a distubutor.

Your are correct in all you say the main reason for flippers & overs is down to OPC's who are selling these GT cars through their dealerships. They are buying them back from there favoured customers at various milages and doing a deal that makes both parties profit and then they allow the same customer to buy the next GT car to repeat the process. Lets face it most GT cars are sold though the main OPC's due to warranty terms etc and a small amount through independent dealers.

This why so many customers have had new GT models which in turn makes less cars available for new customers & genuine buyers who would keep the car for a lot longer and drive it.
I know of some customers who have not bought the main stream Porsches to be able to get there GT models.

My local dealership told me a customer who had bought a GT model from them had been blacklisted because he did not sell the car back to them even though he phoned up and wanted place an order for a new Macan and Panermera but all would of been ok if he had let them trade the car and make profit. I agree every body needs to make profit but the whole system stinks and they have the nerve to say they are taking a dim view on flippers when they are the flippers with their customers. l am sure Porsche know this is going on but hey this is good for there sales of there halo models so why would they want it stopped.

If writing a letter to Porsche makes me a titwangle, then yes, I am a monumental titwangle laugh
Perhaps Porsche GB went ballistic at the group because of how they handled you or your deposit?
They then look like of incompetent keniving Muppets from your letter, reducing the integrity of the brand due to an unfair process etc.

So someone from the dealer group has taken it upon themselves instead of risking bad reviews or possibly harsh financial sanctions due to undue process they will just remove you from the situation occurring at all.

Just a thought but I think there may be more said to the dealer group than you possibly know? That or you're a 'titwangle' rofl
I'm glad there's still some humour on these pages.

Personally I cant wait for the arse to fall out of the market and all these speculators to ps off! biggrin

I know my car will be worth peanuts when the market crashes but I dont particularly care, at least it will make these forums more fun to read.

Where are the road trip threads?
Where are the 'What mods can I do to my car to make it faster?' threads?
Where are the 'Lets all go on a trackday' threads?

Nowadays its 'What paint protection should I use to retain value?' or 'Whats the best spec to retain value?' Or, and this one I find particularly annoying, 'How should I spec my car?' threads.

Just come back from a Scotland in ours. Sharkwerks by pass mod done, don't know if it makes it faster certainly sounds if it does. Bluddy lovely! Not a squeak or rattle from the car just pure PORSCHE GT3. As for your GT3 being worth peanuts. No chance! It will always be special.

I'm going for a curry in Bristol via the Cotswolds and another curry in Leeds via the Peaks to get the car run in. Belgium next year.. Vmax and a few track days. Maybe a trip to Scotland and maybe Le Man..

I already does not have delivery mileage and I think the crowd looking at it thought I was made to dump fish and chips in the passenger seat at the weekend.

Excellent clap Glad to hear it Rob, you were never scared to use your cars. Just think, while you were clocking over 6500 miles on your GT3 RS there were (are) people out there who have the same car and have done less than 500 miles! I just don't understand it.

My OPC had a customer who bought a GT4 around this time last year who also owns Spyder. He traded it back in six months later having driven a massive 16 miles....he lives 8 miles from the dealership. The car had a couple of thousand miles on it. Even if you bought the thing as an investment he could have at least done a couple of hundred miles in it! Males zero sense to me.

It seems to me that those who are not 'on the list' because they're not buying enough Cayennes could just buy a delivery mileage flipped car and save the hassle of buying other cars they don't want to curry favour.

The overall cost across many new Porsches vs one flipped GT car is probably similar.

And if the sticking point is that you don't get to spec your own and therefore might end up with the wrong colour stitching, well...
