Do not use mine much at all due to no need to use parking lots and the like. Think its better to spec it though just for resale..

Didn’t have it in my 997.1 gt3rs but did in 997.2 gt3rs ( think this was whenit was introduced) and don’t recall using it.

Anyone know how the 991.2 gt3 compares for clearance and if the car is sufficiently low to need it
For me its a must have. My own garage, some multi storey car parks, parking ramps, hotels etc need to lift to be able to enter/exit. Its a fairly cheap option, is covered under warranty, so a no brainer not to fit it.

Very local issue I know, but if anyone knows the Shell garage in Crickhowell, the front end on a 991.2 GT3 scrapes on the exit even with lift activated - it would probably rip the splitter off if I didn't have lift..!

Don't know the Shell garage but used to drink regularly in the Bear (and Dragons Head I think in a village nearby next to an old packhorse bridge) on weekends away several years back!

Beautiful area!

Sorry for thread drift!

Here are some data sheets that might help

Can anyone say what the difference in ground clearance is between the GT3 and the GTS?
This thread seems in agreement that axle lift is necessary for the GT3 - the general consensus on the GTS thread is that it isn’t. How different are the two models?

I had a 991.2 GTS, it didn't have lift, and it didn't ground out anywhere. 991.2 GT3 grounds out frequently, even with lift...

Guys do you know how a 991.2 GT3 with lift compares with 981 CGTS with Sport Chassis?

Does the GT3 with lift have a better approach angle than the latter?

I had a GT4 and the GT3 with lift has better clearance than that - if that helps?

Thanks guys, although I guess 981 GTS with sport chassis has got better clearance than GT4 due to front lip on the latter so I guess it's still unclear the comparison with GT3+lift.. 😩

I reckon the GT4 scraped on at least 50% of speed bumps (next GT4 will have lift option IMO). The 991 GT3s are deceiving in that they look lower than a snakes belly. My mate had both a 991.1 GT3 and a 991.1 GT3RS and neither had lift and neither had any probs with speed bumps. I remember my 997.2 GT3 with Lift - I used it everywhere - even on the smallest of humps (because I was st scared I'd rip spoiler off), then I think it failed a couple of times and I realised I didn't need it.. so stopped using it. If you want to see a low front splitter - F40 eek

Need objective data i.e. approach angle, there are many different customer experiences regarding bumps and ramps.

I've found approach angle for a CGTS, 9.2* however cannot find one with sport chassis. Same for GT3 with lift, got the one w/o which is 5.8* on gen1

Each to his own. I run my 911’s low (very) and have never had a real problem with scraping the front PU. If I am fortunate enough to get an RS allocation, I won’t be speccing axle lift. Actually I won’t be specking many extras at all.

all my cars scrape !! I even hear the aero fins at the back of the GT3 scraping !!

GT4 was crazy for scrapes. I use lift all the time on the new GT3. speed bumps and car parks were no go zones in the GT4.

Are you going up and down kerbs or something?

I've not had a scrape yet. And I suspect the noises you are hearing are of the little plastic thingamajigs near the wheel - not the bumper itslef. Only way I think you'd hear a scrape from the front bumper / splitter is if you approach speed bump too fast and brake literally at the last second - then yes you will bog the nose down. Slow down.

Nope, never had a problem. The 996RS sits VERY low, never a problem. The 964 is RS -25mm at the front, never a problem. The brake ducts on the RS get some wear but it's fine, when they wear out, I buy new ones. I'm just careful riding over bumps.

I lowered my 64 RS fair bit as helped when running on slicks ( ran on Avon crossply to avoid camber tissues ) and it had some big knocks on B roads ...

yep no scrapes,my GYm is at a school with some quite serious speed bumps and I don't have to use lift, nor any of the car parks I have been to. I think the gt4 scraped the bottom lip maybe once .
Having said that ,I would rather have it just in case I encounter something that will catch.

Hmmmm..... Interesting.... I’m moving from a GT4 to a 991.2 GT3 (yeh— I’ve given up playing the allocation v overs game: it’s simply not one I’m likely to win tbh....), but seriously considering whether front-lift is an absolute “necessity”: it adds extra weight and I’ve heard it makes a bit of a “boing” noise/bounce over bumps....!! There is no doubt that cars with lift sell for more than those without, but if the Gen2 GT3 scrapes only as much (and possibly less??) than my outgoing GT4, then I’m happy to live with it, and just have a spare splitter lying around as “back-up”.... (I’ve pretty much perfected the “art” of navigating bumps/ramps in the GT4, so don’t think I’d struggle too much in the new GT3 if it’s the same.....)

Does anyone know whether the 991.2 GT3 has, in fact, lower/higher ground clearance at the front than the GT4....?? I’ve trawled the web, and can’t find any definitive figures.... But I’m not convinced that cars without lift are necessarily doomed to “grounding” at every speed-bump/car park ramp....
