Hi, does anyone know of any built cars around 2012/13 that come with this feature? I know of the Volvo V40 and the Mazda 6 but would like to look at a few others. It seems hard to find out online what year they were implemented as most sites just say they come on their newest model.

Cheers

All golf mk7 from SE spec and up come with it as standard with the ACC, and it’s been a option of all the vag cars in the same model like the leon, Octavia and A3. Although it’s a option on all those.

I have it on my leon. It’s warned me 2/3 times and worked well when a person slammed on when a child ran out in the road.

I suspect all volvos of that era have it too.

Ive had a few crashes where I have rear-ended people, one of them was in the snow and I thought I'd left enough room but my Celica just wouldn't stop in time, so its a feature I want on my next car. Was hoping to hear a few jap suggestions but I do like the V40.

Thanks Brapp I'll take a look at the VWs

laugh not sure if serious or satire, if you go too fast for the conditions no amount of collision avoidance gizmos will help you.

Surely it'll be cheaper to leave a little more room than buy a new car!?

They only tend to work at walking pace to stop low-speed collisions in stop-start traffic. They still work within the laws of physics so won't help if you come barrelling up to a queue of cars at an inappropriate speed.

Can you disable it on cars that have it?
I would hate to have a car that can control itself without my input, if it wasn't optional it would be an instant turn off for any car.

Drive to the conditions and buy a set of winter tyres if you're worried about stopping in the snow.

Driver aids wont help you if there's no grip.

Maybe you should consider an advanced driving course and possibly upgrading your brakes (I did this on my Integra and 200sx and it improved braking performance significantly).

If you're hitting people in the rear with any kind of regularity, you're not keeping a safe distance (sorry, not sorry, this had to be said). I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that it is just because you haven't been taught how to judge distances properly.

They are a PITA in terms of thinking you're not going to stop if a car in front is coming off at a junction as an example.

Can I get some of these brakes that stop you quicker in the snow? laughlaugh

Show me where he said all of his rear-enders were in the snow laughlaugh

Perhaps I was simply offering a useful suggestion instead of being a tt. Its not uncommon for old Japanese cars have brakes like blancmange which wont stop quickly no matter the weather.

VAG group products (Golf, Octavia, Leon and also Passat but extremely hard to find on used Passats)

Volvos of that era

Mercedes of that era (Distronic Plus with cross traffic assist)

On VAG products the radar unit is clearly visible at the bottom of the front bumper/airdam.

On Volvos it is a plastic panel on the front grill to the left of the Volvo logo

On Mercs the massive logo in the middle of the bonnet grille is a single flat disc rather than a 3 dimensional logo. If you struggle then you should be able to get a VIN number from a reg (lots of websites give you this) then feed that into a site that can generate the original spec sheet for the car, look for Disronic or Distronic plus on that list.

Hope this helps.

My 2012 Focus Titanium X has it....

Used to get caught out braking when parking at work.... just drove at the hedge and it stopped itself :-)

It also has self parking, lane departure, hill start assist, speed limit warning on dash, etc etc etc

^^^^^This.

If you keep rear ending people then you're driving:
Too fast for the road conditions
Too close to the vehicle in front
Not paying attention.

Out of curiosity, any accidents since last July?

Thanks for the advise, this is what I am going to do until I have not crashed again in two years.

I have already signed up for one as the majority of my accidents have been situations like this, think I have just fell into bad habits due to being impatient.
