996 GT3 MK2 Induction kit...talk to me
Discussion
apart from the Cup kit K&N do a kit specific for the 996 GT3 you'll need to get your car remapped to suit to benefit from the small power gain here's some blurb I know it says for 2007 onwards but this is exactly the same as I have fitted to my 996 GT3 RS.....you will need to ask when buying to make sure you get the right one

I heard all the scaremongering about oil form the oil coated K&N Filter getting onto the MAF sensor etc. but in 5 years and 10000 miles of driving and trackdays I've never had a single problem whether the car will gain the additional 6HP is another matter but I had this done with a full M&M Exhaust and had DMS map the whole thing into a fairly decent package putting out 429.9 BHP which I guess is subjective due to varying ambient factors but there was a definite gain in induction noise and a very definite gain in exhaust noise and the low to mid range power was noticeable......the only problem is that with time (5 years) the car is now 110db @ 6000rpm static so no more trackdays I'm afraid......although I am hoping that my new 991.2 GT3 will make the cut but having said that I've heard it struggles at 105db

Don’t waste your money would be my advice.
If you want more noise, best it comes from the exhaust.
Cup air filter on a Mk 2 not advisable Steve, it’s différent on a Mk 1 Manthey conversion (as they deleted the MAF).
Already have a custom BTB exhaust which is louder than standard. If you want more noise, best it comes from the exhaust.

A mate with a C4S has just installed a K&N intake which made a huge difference so am keen to get the same effect.

Apologies, I was meaning a replacement KN panel filter isn't worth fitting. I have no knowledge of their induction kit.A mate with a C4S has just installed a K&N intake which made a huge difference so am keen to get the same effect.
you need to be careful with the K&N kit and to make sure that its isolated to cold air only as you will be sucking in hot air so pointless
its worth looking into the RS ram air effect spoiler which sits above you air vent on top of the engine cover. that epic mk1 above has the ram air duct above the engine air scoop as you can see it and it helps get more air into the engine bay.
it really starts working over 70 mph as it diverts the extra air into the bay and into the air filter.
the RS had this. you can get the copy from design 911 in carbon fibre.
the RS one looks like this.

I done this on mine and it seem to help breathing abit as you get moving. not had it on the rollers
went for the look as well as I have the RS rear carbon spoiler.

https://www.porscheshop.co.uk/porsche-performance-... it's the same GT3-RS has fitted to his car and similar to the one my mate put in his C4S.
The I'd for the link for the ram air that sits on the deck lid. Perhaps something to consider further down the line.
