Seller's Regret
Discussion
Is this a thing?
I have just put my V8 up for sale (two minutes ago, https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/... ) and am already feeling a bit lovesick.

All very confusing. Must sell by the 20th, due to a baby, or if not you’ll put it into storage, or perhaps sell and buy back in 5 years?
Surely you had some notice of the baby’s arrival? I’m sure you could still use the car occasionally should you not need to sell it, rather than just storing it?

Need to sell it by tomorrow?!
Yes, it's all a bit ridiculous. Working in Denmark and only home this weekend so thought I'd stick it on before I head back in case anyone is shopping this weekend. Poor planning and slim chances - but on the plus side if it doesn't sell I get to keep it TamFB said:

With the greatest respect I think your probably looking at more like £25-£26k
Dealers fully serviced cars of less mileage can be had for £29k with a warranty with a black interior

Weren't you just considering paying £27k a couple of days ago for a 90k mile early model with cream leather and pre-facelift from auction, unseen/tested, and with previous paintwork/repairs? Agreed that for a quick sale he would need to move a bit from £34k, but 'with the greatest respect' it's not a £25-26k car. Nothing wrong with a very opportunistic low offer, but don't pad it out with public forum BS!With the greatest respect I think your probably looking at more like £25-£26k

I was considering it but as I said at the time that one was too expensive relatively.
The cost of that car was £24.5 k ( it went for £23.3k) + fees and then £2k to put it right.
This car with 60k on my the clock at £26k + service + whatever else it probably needs would probably be £28k all in.
As other pointed out to me previously you can get a good sub 50k car with FSH in a good colour combination with a recent service and warranty / comeback from an independent for £30.
Hence why I didn’t buy the first car and why I think if your desperate to sell a car in 48 hours that needs a service the price is going to have to be cheaper

I was suggesting that £30k could on the face of it at least bag you a circa 60-65k miles dealer car (by exception - most are £33-36k). I think if your budget is £25-26k plus initial spend then you’re going to be restricted to very high mileage and Cat D write-offs. Entry level to Vantages is usually around £30k, and they’ve not moved in depreciation terms for years.
This the one I was thinking of for £28k Edited by johnnyBv8 on Saturday 20th January 06:26

i do take all your points and I wasn't trying to be rude re the ad but f your trying to sell something really really fast it has to be super cheap and £33k didn't seem to be
Just imho

Re my budget I’m looking up to £40k, not white and something I can sell again easily ( so either good value for money, or something slightly different in a good way ie facelift car)
Without loosing lots of money, basically not sure if it will be a keeper for me so want to try a cheap one first
If that makes any sense with my man maths !!

Unless prices have crashed - which I doubt - good examples are still low 30s. From an independent, that price seems low - could be a bargain but my guess would be that it doesn't entirely live up to the ad in real life.
