Help, I’ve been lurking and this is first post, so please forgive me if the question sounds odd...

I’ve had Jags and Porsche but I’m looking at Aston for first time and an early Vanquish2 (2012-2013 cars with 6-speed box). I’ve found one that interests me but it only has 4 slats on the front grill ! I’ve looked at almost all other cars on sale online and they all have 5 slats.

Silly question but, which is probably correct::

a). was a four slat option available on the Vanquish, Or
b) has this car’s owner taken one slat out for some reason, or perhaps more likely...
c) it’s had a front end crash and whoever fixed it forgot to put one of the them back in / one was damaged?

My common sense head says it’s (c) and I should walk on by... but who knows?

ps it’s a private seller too, not a dealer.

Thank you for any help offered here!
Danny

Hi Danny. I followed the Vanquish 2 from pre launch in 2012/13 (think it was first named project AM310?) and I eventually bought one in 2015. The only grille option I recall during that time was bright or black slats, not 4 or 5 slats. Even the preproduction one at Villa D’Este had 5.

If I was about to part with the best part of £100k on an Aston I’d make sure my short list was not out of a choice of one.

If the car has been modified, again I’d think twice personally in this price range.

Do you have pics or more details?

It should be a 5 bar grille, but if the service history, HPI, exterior/interior quality and owner "feel" check out it could be worth a professional inspection to ensure it hasn’t had an accident -replacing a grille isn't a huge cost. Much depends on the price vs the peace of mind (generally) buying via a dealer pre-inspected and with warranty... also bear in mind the 8-speed 15MY car’s are worth a decent bit extra (not just for the transmission improvements) so don’t go cheapest wink
The Vanquish is fabulous I’m sure you will love it smile

Danny, I am currently selling my 62 plate Vanquish. PM me for details if you are interested.

17 thousand miles, Full Aston Martin Service History. Detailed and Ceramic Coated with Lumia PPF down the side skirts and round the wheel arches. It's only washed by the guy who detailed it so the condition both inside and outside is excellent. I have just had two new rear tyres fitted as well. It's Amethyst Red, One 77 style steering wheel, Bang & Oloufsen sound system, reversing camera, cruise control. I am OCD and meticulously look after my cars, so it's a great example I am selling.

Edit for picture from recent valet.

It hasn't been an easy decision, but it ultimately does around 80 miles a month at the moment and spends most of it's time being admired like a painting smile It's isn't actually advertised anywhere yet as I have normally traded cars in, but there has been so much day to day interest from people who have seen me driving it, that I thought it would be worth selling privately. I only stumbled across this post looking for details on an Abarth funnily enough. The colour is really unusual, it's a Q Colour from Aston Martin and was the one they used to advertise the Vulcan originally. From a distance it can look black, but then in the light it's a really deep/dark red, truly stunning to look at and a real head turner.

A few more pictures below.
