Right then. Vehicle is set to arrive tomorrow at the dealer, and I've been desperately trying to find a good detailer for PPF+Ceramic coating etc in advance, but have struggled.

Therefore, can I get some genuine reviews on who's used who, and rough pricing?

Also, specifically - if anyone has used "Elite Detailing" (EDP), i'd be interested, as this is who my OPC recommends.

Thanks.

Midlands area.

I've spoken with Topaz, as I know they have a good reputation (or at least, a large amount of exposure on Youtube!), and they seem a good contender, however the transport costs seem pretty high, which is the main thing putting me off at the moment.

I have used Reep Group for a few cars. They recently did my Macan GTS and will be doing my GT3 Touring in February.

There is a branch in the Midlands close to you.

Contact Stuart Jackson at the Head Office and he will look after you (Tel. ‭01423 860022‬). Mention me (Martin from Gretna) and say you are a Pistonheads forum user and it should get his pencil sharpened cool

Midlands Car Care seem to have a good reputation for PPF and ceramic coating etc. - I've not used them, though have seen their work on FB and they seem to have some top end cars.

There work seems good, but they are literally 2-3x the price of some very respectable competitors - I'm not sure how they can justify?

Try Paintshield at Peterborough, they. have done 3 of mine, 2 I have been very satisfied with 1 not so, the prep was not really good enough. I have also had my GT4 done by Topaz and am having trouble with the edges going black, lifting which has not happened at all with Paintshield.

Topaz get a lot of good reviews and are recommended by several OPC's but I would go back to Paintshield

Are they though?

They quote £1800 for full frontal.

I am also looking for options in the midlands and have been looking at signature (mrjww had his rs6 done there) at £1800 and depth of shine (recommended in a thread on here) in Birmingham for £1200

Most places quote £1800-2000 inc vat for a new car correction + full frontal (including sills/rear arches) with a ceramic coating.

Topaz quote £1800 for full frontal, £500 for side skirts (no rear arch), and £800 for paint correction, all excluding vat - so all in.. £3600+. And, no ceramic coating at all.

I'm looking at signature group, their work seems thorough, and prices are competitive. Would love to hear some reviews of them, as MRJWW's cars seem to have been done well, but I always have to take Youtuber's "reviews" with a pinch of salt, as they're normally glorified adverts.

Depth of Shine I've tried to use, but he seems so unsure on the quality of work he can provide (PPF specifically) that it's actually quite off putting.

Interesting, their website states £1500 excluding vat for full frontal and sills (£1800 total)

http://topazdetailing.com/services/protect/#tab-1-...

Depth of shone have some very nice cars on the website that they’ve done, and have been around for a while, so seem to have the experience. I’ve not spoken to him yet, this is just web research.

My dealer are quoting £2500 for their partner, but I have no details on what that includes at the moment.

I’m getting the following done to the GT3

PPF :

Full Front end
Wing mirrors
A pillars and roof top
Side Sills and rear arches

GTechniq Crystal Serum Ultra

Complete car including the wheels (insides and outer of the rims) and callipers and the interior protected by GTechniq Total Protection Kit to protect the leather, door panels and trims, glass and carpets. Then EXO Hydrophobic sealant applies to the outside to keep the shine and beading on the car.

Under £3k for all the work by Reep Group

Emphasis on "from £1500". Maybe i've just been quoted a bit harshly, but the site doesn't state that the PPF pricing includes any detailing/correction work, which is obviously essential. I'll obviously discuss the price with them, but it seems a bit of a stretch to get them down from £3600 to £2000.

My dealer has a suggested detailer, "Elite Detailing", however they don't seem to be answering the phone.

Depth of Shine's actual paint correction work looks great, it's just specifically the PPF work that I'm worried about.

Do you know what PPF they use? I did check their site out after your suggestion, but couldn't find any mention of XPEL, which seems to be the industry standard as the best PPF?

Out of curiosity, what are people's views on ceramic coatings such as the Gtechniq Crystal Serum? Do they do what they say and provide long term protection and swirl resistance or is it all mumbo jumbo?

Never used this type of product before but was thinking of giving it a go. Reep charge about £1100 for the whole car (clean/polish, paint, wheels, glass).

Thanks (sorry if a bit OT but hopefully relevant)

I had it on a previous R8, although It was applied by the previous owner (via detailer). My understanding is that it's essentially a semi-permanent wax, so provides a hydrophobic effect to the paint, but also adds the gloss of a wax by building up an additional layer of clearcoat (sort of).

Personally, I'll be getting it applied. As my car is black, it'll look incredible when clean, but is so prone to showing swirling, that anything I can do to limit the amount of physical contact I have to have with the paint whilst cleaning, I'll be doing.

The R8 was yellow, so wouldn't show swirls as badly as black - but when it came to cleaning that, I barely had to use anymore than jet washer and snow foam.

Arghh Taffy, not again! Everytime I read your recommendation, I'm like "That sounds amazing. Okay, I'll get him to do the work!" - then I get thrown a curve ball!

I'll revisit, yet again..

P.s - are you on commission yet? biggrin

I think £1100 is expensive for Gtech. I think pricing is circa £600, Gtech have a menu pricing system on their website all their approved detainers use. Clearly there’s prep on Top I suppose.
