Our cars will be twins and may even arrive on the same day - that would be cool. Nurburgring in May?? RSVP911 said:
Have the people with cars in the second batch specced and deposited ? Cheers ?
Like everyone else who was lucky to get one I had to have mine specced by midday Friday. I asked about second batch as ideally wanted WP and they simply said do you want to roll the dice and risk not getting one at all as they had nothing to suggest further cars would be made available at this stage. The very short lock down time has taken everyone by surprise. They showed me their allocation slots and they have very few cars of any model type to see them through the factory close down nevermind RS.
They got 3 cars, same as GT2RS.
I’m sure other people have specced cars and maybe even deposited in hope but I very much doubt anyone has a concrete order form guaranteeing them a car.
The only thing I find strange is if there is to be no additional cars then the UK won’t have a single WP car.....I personally find that hard to believe.

This tallies with what my crystal ball is telling me..I suspect the reason behind no WP for UK RS's is it could cause unforeseen logistical build delays especially with the obvious serious urgency required to build all EU cars well before the factory shutdown in May.This is further exasperated by the minuscule number of RHD UK cars. They showed me their allocation slots and they have very few cars of any model type to see them through the factory close down nevermind RS.

The more i think about it the more confident i am about only one short rushed wave for the EU.If i'm correct i just hope all the DPs will have enough sense to make sure none of these ultra rare beasts are allocated to greedy flippers, who'd sh!t themselves if they ever found themselves on a track in a fast GT Porsche.
I wait with baited breath to be proved wrong ! In this instance i would gladly swallow some pride if it meant i could get an RS WP from a potential second wave..
Well double congrats to everyone that has a car on the back of what you guys have just said. Makes sense as we know GT3 is still being produced for North America after the summer but no cars in Europe.
Although you have to think the chances of next gen GT3 being naturally aspirated are diminishing almost by the day. Seems pretty obvious that whatever these new emission regs are that arrive in Sep Porsche seemingly didn’t understand that it would impact GT3/RS until quite recently...production schedules are obviously planned months in advance. When I spoke to the Head of Sales at my OPC in Dec he said he was expecting Geneva launch and Sep deliveries.
On that basis how the hell can there be any certainty of which engine will be in the next GT3 as it’s three or four years away ?!?! People still clinging to 718 GT4 being NA which given the issues with the RS seems unlikely to me.

Some of you come out with some nonsense, most of the uk opc dont have a clue whats going on.
The uk always plays second fiddle to most of europe, these countries already have more cars that sold out and allocated some time ago.
The factory close down, looks to need to be some what flexible,as the building is still in its concrete tower stage and a good layer of snow on top.
The second and possibely 3 rd batch will be after the factory gets sorted with more choice of colour and spec,i dont want to be railroaded into a basic spec and poor choice of colours.
Enjoy your new cars to be,i am sure they will be good fun

I was told don’t take the risk of waiting for a WP car, actually I don’t even like the exposed carbon so make little difference.
Apart from people seemingly desperately hoping that their car will be 'the last NA' etc....I don't see why the 4.0 GT engine is such an issue after September. It might even be 6c compliant for all anyone knows and it's just an issue of getting through the new real world test. In any case, the speedster is coming, it's running the same 4.0 engine and it's going to be produced later in the year. If PAG can produce the speedster after sep 2018, exactly what's stopping the RS?

Wow,,, yes,,, it appears last Wednesday was a magic Wednesday for quite a few..
Congrats to you...
Thank you Throt. I do feel very lucky indeed! have gone with the Lizard green with a more subtle interior, but retained the green roll cage and belts.Congrats to you...
I think i'm making a fair assumption that this early batch of RSs will not have the new much mooted Particulate filter fitted..Also all RSs which will be built for NA and ROW from September onwards in the second batch won't have this filter fitted.
What is the everyone's opinion on whether or not Porsche will fit this filter for RSs destined for the EU market after the factory reopens in September..I've heard that no RSs whatsoever will be fitted with the new filter as its restriction in the exhaust results in a 5% power reduction.Apparently this is insurmountable due to homologation issues and marketing problems.
It won't make any difference to the forthcoming 991 Speedster as that car is in a lower state of tune.Is it absolutely mandatory that the RS can not be registered in any EU country after September 1st 2018 without this filter or is it purely scaremongering...?
