My dealer said it was completed last Thursday and was awaiting extra quality control checks being the first of the run. You could say missing rear and side windows would be a major qualiry control issue !!

Anyone able to answer these two questions:

- Why did Porsche move away from the plexiglas side and rear windows of the 991.1 RS, mime were fine.

- AP said in his report at the time of the 991.1 RS that they used magnesium for the roof because it was lighter than carbon, and the roof was a structural part, now he seems to be saying the reverse.

I also recall at the time of the 997.2 RS he said PDK had no place on an RS, is he always speaking what Porsche say at the time he should speak?

Can't recall if he's made a statement about the RS never being torbocharged !
When will people learn not to believe him, what ever car he comes up with is the best ever,i remember a conversation with him about a 993gt2 lsd,he said they were rubbish, but he did not know much about them! Before his time !

US MARKET COULD NOT HAVE PLEXIGLAS BECAUSE OF REGULATION SO THIS NEW GLASS SOLVES THE PROBLEM AND WEIGHTS LESS

991.2 WP USES A NEW COMPOSITE MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY ON ROOF NOW LIGHTER THAN THE MAGNESIUM

Thanks Three for that info, im amazed the glass weighs less than the plastic and also that the Carbon roof less too. I wonder how much lighter?

Yep mine is in bodyshop this week and due to be complete 3/5 but now 3/6. Looks like a months delay frown Surely the factory must know/plan for this not to happen as they are the ones that set the build dates.

Anyway, on a lighter note. The embargo drops at midnight so the reviews will be up tomorrow

What vessel Jules and when do expect yours ? Mine is supposed to be in Emden so maybe it will come on that one too.

Hunter, doubt I'll make the LMC but I'm doing Spa in June with CSCC and spectating at NBR24 in May .

Autocar review - https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/911-g...

This generation GT3 RS is not limited in volume, per se, but even at £141,346 there won’t be enough for everyone. They can only make so many alongside the regular 911s people also buy, and impending emissions regulations will also limit the numbers that can be registered in the EU – 1000 by this September, more next year, while Porsche works out supply deals and then seems generally surprised how many people want these specials: magnesium wheels, for example, mean that until 2019 you won’t be able to specify a ‘Weissach Package’ GT3 RS, which sheds 28kg on top of an already lightweight build, because the magnesium wheels – of exactly the size and design apart from the inscription on them – are all needed for GT2 RS models, on which everybody is specifying the Weissach option, again to Porsche’s surprise.

That's a car arrived at Glasgow this morning, not mine though. I'm still on for leaving the factory on 4th May. Fingers crossed. Someone will have a fun weekend.
