Or just set a higher price point for new cars. It took me 3 phone calls to get a GT3 build slot here in the Netherlands with about 6 weeks wait for delivery. I have no history in buying or servicing from any OPC here before. The annoying thing is the car retails at double the price of the UK....
There you go. All the nonesense solved party
But it doesn’t feel like double to those earning and buying in the Euro zone. It’s all down to the exchange rate post the brexit vote debacle. If porsche had followed the movement in the rate and adjusted all their prices accordingly we’d be paying £150k for a Carrera 2 in the UK. The UK gets so few GT cars compared with the “demand”, driving the silly overs market. This isn’t the case in Europe where pretty much anyone that wants one can get one. It’s not because the price is “double”.

Fundamentally the lack of supply is the problem.

With each centre only getting a couple of cars, you can’t all build a relationship to get one.

Think you'll find it's a lot more than that smile

Not entirely. The limitation is total production at the factory. Prices are heavily impacted by emissions tax here. As example the GT3 before options is 104,5% of the price of a new Turbo in Netherlands. In the UK a GT3 is about 87% of the price of a new Turbo. Even worse; the touring pack is a no cost option but has a small impact on CO2 emissions and hence EUR 6k more expensive compared to a GT3. Purely for tax. There is a brand new full options crayon GT PDK for sale at one of the OPCs here @ EUR 256k. They have the car in stock. Obviously LHD, but once exported you don't have to pay for the BPM (special car tax) which is EUR76k for a GT3 and you can drive one in the UK for approx 160k GBP. I guess that is till 15k more than a UK car would be, i will put that down to exchange rate.

Do i think the GT3 is worth more than a Turbo? For me absolutely!.

Don’t disagree. All I know is that in 2015, based in the UK you could ring round euro OPCs and get a LHD drive RS ordered and landed in the UK for less than a RHD from the UK at the time. Not happening now!

What’s the difference in retail price in euro between the gen 1 and gen 2 RS in euro out of interest?

I think the UK car went from about £131k to £141k list price between the Gen1 and Gen2

Price increase is 24k euro for the gen2 RS over gen1. Prices start at 272k euro. Again part of that will be increased emission taxes. Very punitive here.

I actually ordered a new LHD 991S with OPC east london when back living in the UK. Managed to bring it back home without having to pay import duties, that was 4 years of nice cheap motoring smile
I know Schmee ordered his GT3 LHD via Porsche Amsterdam

Uk Porsche prices dont seem to have caught up with the Euro since 2008, let alone the brexit adjustment. NL is a bit of a special case due to those seemingly car hating legislators...

I would think UK allocation will remain low until prices rise. These cars are built and paid for in Euro’s, theyd be mad to sell any more here than the absolutely had to in the “cheap” uk due to their lower margin. Just speculation on my part.

before the Ferrari price increase I think I Turbo S cost roughly the same as a 488 in Germany. In the UK I believe there is a big difference like for like between those two, so Porsches in the UK are just plainly cheap at list price

and another example: a specced GT2 RS is about the same as a (not ridiculously) specced 812, while in the UK it is probably not even specced GT2 RS = 812 base price

Don't bother with this: get an older GT3 (RS, maybe) for a lot less, with little risk and as much reward (possibly more, on the road).

Good advice - but Depends on the buyers motive. A fabulous driving experience or to own the latest shiny medallion.

4 years ago I had no relationship with my OPC. I brought a new Macan every 3-4 months (making sure I sold the old one back to them) and soon got offered a GT car. That’s the best way but not cheap.

Wow a minimum of 12 Macans then.

Residually quite good though.

Good work

Sorry to be a bit rude but would you mind saying how much this cost you in total depreciation?

It depends on how you define 'best', does it not?

In effect you are just paying the premium demanded by re-sellers via a different method.

As I have stated before, this 'building a relationship' is more or less the same as between a prostitute and a client - the more you spend, the more 'love' you get.

Fair play to you...and I think this is it...If you play the game hard enough and get the likes of the Turbo Exclusive and and a GT3 RS.....its not even a zero sum game you can come out "on top". If you buy say two or three cars over a two year period you're a good customer but nothing special and may or may not get on the GT list.

However it’s still a gamble , at least buying at overs you know your exposure and you can decide if it’s acceptable to you - the other way could lead to nothing but a waste of £, time and effort.

The whole thing is a mess IMHO - I wish we could simply all order what we want, loose £ and be done with it - but I guess I’m just an old romantic fool smile

Agree with you on both counts. The world would be much healthier if things returned to normal and I think maybe we're starting to see the beginning of it.

From what i understand the dealers selling the "volume premium brands" i.e. Merc,BMW and Audi are struggling for sales at the moment....maybe Porsche are feeling it to with the 718...and I also suspect 911's are not selling as well as your average OPC would have you believe. It's been relatively easy to get hold of new 991.2 GTS's and also cars like the T we've been told we're sold out are appearing at OPC's as delivery mileage and certainly one OPC I popped into a couple of weeks ago still had a couple of T's looking for a home.
