I have to be honest and given the choice of a 991.1 GT3 RS or a 991.2 GT3, I'd pick the GT3 every single time.

The new GT3 is just that good.
Good there's the choice I guess. Personally I'd take the .1 rs over the .2 gt3 every time. Both are imo equally capable on the road and the rs is better on track.

Same here, and in 10k very hard miles in my 991.rs had no issues at all, engine was very strong.

... as is the newer G series 3.8L 991 GT3 engine .
when rsr/ring taxi stop having replacement engines for their .1 GT3 I'll believe that particular one has been fully fixed. Last I heard rsr were on double digits in terms of engine replacements....

Does the 10yr engine warranty apply to the RS ?

We have had a Gen 1 GT3 and GT3RS, we now have a GT3.2 (8900 miles) which in my opinion is the better car. All it lacks is the visual drama that the RS brings.

Same here, looks of the .1 RS but technical prowess of the .2 GT3

Which means you need a .2 GT3RS so come on where are they!

The cooking GT3 is hardly lacking in visual drama either imo, particularly if it's in a bright colour.

Love the looks of the RS too but imagine it might be too much on occasion.

No but there's nothing to stop one from maintaining the extended warranty either. For a modern (ie electronically heavy) car I'd certainly be doing that anyway...

why? the .2 gt3 engine isn't warrantied for 10 years either.

Yep. You feel a bit of a tit going to the supermarket in the RS. In many ways the rear wing is ridiculous for normal use.

No wonder many find the 991.2 GT3 the sweetspot especially with that incredible engine. 'Manuel' gearbox option too which is a major drawback to the RS.

Tbh, I avoid going to the supermarket in my normal GT3. Saw a Performante in Sainsburys recently. It was an orange one so I guess it was staffbiggrin

Not sure I understand why no manual is a major drawback for the RS, I never found it the slightest drawback on mine ??

it came 4th in drivers car of the year When last year the GT3 came 1st (RS came joint 1st in the track part btw so it won what it was made to do)

Like wise the 991.1 RS did not fair well in the past and before that the Cayman R beat the 997 RS.

RS don't really make great road cars, this new one has double the spring rates and is def more for track work.

Like always, GT3 is the road car you can track, RS is the track car you can use on the road.

If people are doing 10+ track days and have the RS as a toy then all good, but there is a bigger % of RS models for sale than any GT3 vs cars sold and most owners cars will never see a track. 20+ cars for sale over what 100 odd cars !

I love what the RS stands for, but unless you are very well off and can have a bigger fleet of cars the GT3 is the better all round car for sure.
Would I have an RS if money no object yes, would I swap my GT3 for one today, no.

Personal taste. I also feel lucky enough to own the most desirable Porsche on sale (well OK its not for sale anymore) simply because it's available as a manual. But I love all of them and had the pleasure of a Cayman S courtesy car at the weekend. Even though it was a 718 with THAT turbo flat 4 and pdk I really bonded with it. Great little car. But jumping back in the GT3 and engaging that lovely manual box it felt properly old school. I was laughing out loud!

Believe he's quoting magazine test results...

He's also pointing out how the RS is designed to be more oriented for track use and hence you lose some usability. Obvious really
