Looking for a Carrera GT
Discussion
I don't get the fuss about on colour outside of a very low mileage factory fresh car. Service history is everything into. Get a good one and it isn't very much (in the context of the overall cost of the car) to get Reading to respray it whatever colour floats your boat as the car is designed to come apart easily so a very thorough and high quality repaint can be done.
I saw one getting ragged at the Ring about five years ago. Middle-aged owner was revving the tits off it in the holding area, it sounded incredible. Unfortunately he went off at an uphill right hander about a third of the way round on his first lap and had to be trailered back with a very expensive looking rear 3/4 repair job in prospect. Plenty of Schadenfreude sniggering among the proletariat onlookers.

You'd think most of these cars would be in excellent condition ? Surely most are in collectors or enthusiasts hands both of whom you'd expect to maintain regardless of cost. How many of these get ragged ?!?!
That's the issue with some of them as it's not just an issue of getting ragged. The cars don't get driven, sit for ages (develop leaks - rms not limited to the 911s), not really serviced fully as the owner assumes it isn't driven. If one then gets one to use, first thing then required will be an engine out service and inspection because if something is not quite right with the clutch or engine you really want to find out early and get it sorted. If anything it's the cars (like any other I guess) that are used and maintained regularly that are in the best condition, not the low mileage garage queens.isaldiri said:

Sure, though to some it is nice to have carbon weave showing through original paintwork JulierPass said:
mobile.de is your best bet. I went to Germany to find mine after looking at loads of silvers one here in the uk. I managed to source a yellow one. These cars need to be anything other than silver. Good luck with your search
Did you know the colour GT Silver was originally developed for the Carrera GT there was a whole chapter on it in one of the launch books describing how the hue was developed by Porsche's top design bods and how marvelously it accentuated the curves and lines of the car - hence its popularity.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
