Anyone out there running the 18” rims, 12” wide GT2 rear wheels on a 996 Turbo?

I am considering whether to add stock 17mm spacers to my 11” wide wheels or swap the wheels to the wider GT2 spec.

If I did, would I notice the difference?

I had GT2 size wheels on my 996 turbo. Didn’t notice any difference when I swapped back to 11” turbo twists. I’ve also added 10mm front and 17mm rear spacers. GT2 tyres in my part of the world were horrendously expensive so give this some consideration first. If you run 12” rears they need bigger tyres and you’ll have to Change tyres size on front or it can damage the 4WD system

Thanks for the responses.

I have fitted Oz Challenge wheels, still 18”, but the offsets on the rears are different to the original wheels by 17mm. After trying a few sets of hub centric spacers, I settled on 18mm which are just right from Jasmine Porsche.

Alternative was to go with 12” wheels with Turbo offset, but I think the clearerance wouldn’t be there on the inside.

This is not my car, but these are the new wheels:

I thought changing the tyre ratio on the 996T was a big nono because of the viscous coupling?
