Hi all,

Does anyone know if something like the shark works or JCR centre bypass/system cause issues with warranty or benefit from remapping and cause warranty issues

On a 991.1 GT3 I want to be careful but dislike the way the flap opens at 4k using the exhaust in sport. Much prefer to possibly leave sport off and fit a bypass ?

Totally depends on the attitude of your OPC. They are the people that initially will either ignore it or turn down a warranty claim because of it. If you want to extend the manufacturers warranty it would have to be removed at renewal time, car has to be 100% OEM.

Thanks, I’ll keep it stock then !

I wonder if there is any way round the annoying boom at 4K when you accelerate. Usually when you using reasonable throttle and short shifting, it sounds crap, like something went wrong and you lifted off

keep it above :-) it goes to 9k so when you accelerate you don't see 4k

I do try to but my journey starts in the centre of town, I’m disappointed if I can’t hit 9k with WOT at least once a trip !

I fitted a sharkwerks to my 991.1 GT3 and my local OPC didn't mind working on the car and doing warranty work that clearly was not linked to the exhaust.

I too didn't like the way the exhaust was muted at certain speeds and rev's and before fitting the sharkwerks I disconnected the vacuum pipe to the valves inserted a screw into the pipe and then ty-wrap the valves open... I left the mod in place after I fitted the bypass.

You can buy from Carnewal an override switch but I didn't bother fitting mine in the end...

I have a BRE inconel bypass on my 991 GT3 - the sound alone has transformed the car

No need for mapping and my OPC had no issue with it

I think you’ll find that a centre bypass leaves the flaps untouched, so they will still open and close as they did from the factory. Mr JWW has recently posted a video on YouTube showing the fitting of a sharkwerks centre bypass to his gen 2 GT3 which goes into more detail.

I’ve got a Sharkwerks on my car. It doesn’t change the way the flaps work. If anything it makes the change when they open even more obvious. But the bypass does make quite a difference to how the car sounds when you’re giving it a bit of throttle. The up shifts at around 5/6k give off a lovely rifle crack. If the flaps opening and closing really bug you I’d try to get a ride in a bypassed car before commiting. As a side note I do track days so I swap the exhausts over as and when required myself, on the drive way. Apart from a few ‘specialist’ tools such as torq bolt adapters which are easily available I don’t even have to raise the back of the car up. It’s about a two hour job once you’ve done it a couple of times.

I'm in the process of fitting a centre bypass on my 991.2GT3..I want a Titanium one so i have been looking at JCRs, IPE and Akrapovic's new Ti centre bypass but my favourite is JCR if you take value into account..Akrapovic's new centre rear bypass is a work of art but pricey at circa £3k(including tips)..
I phoned my OPC yesterday regarding my RS allocation and happened to mention i intended to fit a centre rear bypass and he didn't see any warranty issues, as long as you don't interfere with the ECU..On a gen 1 i would make doubly sure because of the ten year warranty..

Here's JCR's Titanium center rear unsilenced bypass. You can have a silenced version as well which keeps the volume at OEM levels.

That looks good value when compared to the Shark Werks one which is £200 more and is steel😳

There's a lightly-used SW bypass just come up for sale on eBay at £1,000.

Link is as follows:

No connection or affiliation, etc.

Anyone have any idea on noise levels of these with the valves shut?

Having only just got through the noise test at Brands this year with the stock system I’m a bit concerned a bypass might mean I fail in the future.

Thanks
