991 GT3.2 Collection Day Tomorrow

Throt is correct.
Drive a gen 1 then a gen 2 directly after and there is a big difference.
Relative to the gen 1 the gen 2 is much freer revving primarily down to less internal engine drag aided by central crankshaft lubrication, more torque lower down and also sounds better across the whole rev range with fantastic and intoxicating induction noises and the car is noisier (in an involving way!) overall largely due to less sound insulation.
Consider this....in percentage terms the gen 2 has less than half the power drop off between peak power @8250 up to the 9000 red line compared to the gen 1.
Sorry Juno.... a serious post.....this thread was getting far too frivolous!
Hope you are enjoying your new acquisition.

I have a gen 2 and its definitely faster than the gen 1 but not massively so, which is what you'd expect with only an extra 25HP and 15lb/ft torque. However it has much more torque below 5k revs, much more so than the figures would suggest in fact..Its this which makes it feel ultimately faster in everyday use.I think the new engine suits the Manual way better than the old one would have due to the torque.
All IMMHO of course..!

I think that’s a spot on quote and in and in one off my earlier posts I also said I felt the newer car was making power all the way to the red line whereas the .1 was effectively howling but also running out of puff at the same time. Putting the figures aside that’s the impression it gives you!

Congratulations on both your new GT3 and the first thread on the Porsche forum that has made me laugh in ages.
The last I can recollect was when I posted that the missus test drove a 996C4S and concluded her Smart Car felt better screwed together.
That incited a few interesting comments.
As for whether a 1 or 2 is quicker I have no idea.
But I cannot imagine Porsche making a 2 slower than a 1.
Then if you drove 2 or 3 2's 1 will be quicker.
But I am not qualified to comment as I have never driven any of the 12 3's apart from a Cup and that was a 6

I think they were using Philips screws on SMART Cars at the time so she could well have been right The last I can recollect was when I posted that the missus test drove a 996C4S and concluded her Smart Car felt better screwed together.

To be honest I’m not fussed about which one is quicker and that’s not been the focus of my comments. They are both so quick that the difference would be hard to measure and minimal anyway. Also how often would you have a .1 next to a .2 for that comparison to be meaningful in anyway?
The bigger difference is the theatre and that for sure is delivered by the extra bucket load.
