mine never clears even half the mist (clears close to the lines but not between them) even if it's on for a while. eventually it clears but by then the demister has turned itself off and i think it's just the effect of the warm cabin...

that's not normal is it?

Should work very quickly; check the connection at the LHS roll hoop; sometimes the connections can get a bit iffy - or even incorrectly plugged into the dummy connector that is used for the hardtop......

Mine is rubbish also on 2016 981 Cayman GTS.

It does clear it eventually but really slowly, was pretty surprised how poor it is, if it’s actually a fault and it’s meant to clear it quickly I’ll put it back in to Porsche get it sorted....

Pope usually has the answers (thanks) so if it should clear quickly i'll pop it back under warranty. Not sure if it would be a connection if it does actually work, it's just incredibly slow, as you say Jason, probably the air con clears it quicker than the element.

Rarely have issues with coupe cars; my original reply referred to convertible cars - the wiring is accessible and open to being inadvertently swapped while a hardtop is used.

I would expect the element to visibly clear a frosty screen within a minute or so.......?

thanks all for the replies.

Pope, mine (and some others it seems) takes a long time to clear, and the more i look at it the more i think the demister just stops about half way between the lines and then the warm cabin does the rest (after half hour or so).

i'll pop into an OPC over the Xmas break and will see what they say.

My gts 997 cab has a useless rear demister. I took it to the OPC and of course they said it was fine and worked for them. As far as I can tell it makes a miniscule difference to the mist, hardly any demisting over the elements...

Don't know what you drive, mine works very quick and clears the whole window (987.1).

Not to sound flippant but does it matter?

Give the side mirrors a rub before getting in the car as they are all you need.

Is it me or do boxsters mist up really quickly?

I find myself de-misting the front and rear windscreen once every 5 minutes on the motorway. In my previous Audi it was once an hour.

Firstly in a BGTS the screen clears up really quickly. Secondly yeah the BGTS does sometimes mist up quite a bit, well from what i can remember with the roof up last time i used it. Generally seems to be ok though.
